Review

Remarks :

Our college has a very positive outlook to changing times and tries it's best to keep up with it. Giving freedom to students in all the student organised fests and fully supporting all student organised endeavors.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is a bit outdated as of now and does not teach the contemporary application of engineering in real life. Exam structure involves two main exams one in middle of a semester and one at the end, along with unit tests before and after the mid-sem exams.

Placement Experience :

Being a national level institute, the placements offered in our college are pretty impressive. From top tier companies to start-ups, career opportunities are many here. Our college also encourages companies to take interns from the college. For the same stipends for mechanical internships range from 20000-50000 per month.

College Events :

All major Indian regional and national festivals are celebrated in college. We also have two student arranged fests. Engineer the Tech fest and Incident the cultural fest. Incident is to this day considered one of the biggest in South India.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Being a national institute, the MHRD offers a lot of subsidies for fees and also many quotas are offered for the same. The tuition fees for general category is currently at 1,25,000 per year. Some economically backward students get up to 60-70% of it slashed.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college offers multiple different fee cuts for many students from economically backward groups. There also exists many scholarship programs for academically brilliant students set-up either by MHRD or the college alumni network.

Campus Life :

All the labs are equipped with state of the art technical instruments and equipments and also houses labs funded by private companies for research and development accessible to all students. College hosts multiple sports fests and also participates in all Inter-NIT events and regional sports fests. NITK also organises one of the first fully student organized full marathons in India, NITK Karavali Marathon.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel infrastructure even though old is satisfactory and houses all of the college's students comfortably over 12-13 different residential blocks. Some of the newer buildings are infact very modern and comes with all modern amenities. Entire campus is covered with high-speed WiFi network.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni network is closely knit with all the student of the college with various interaction programmes over the year that offer career and life guidance to all students wishes to seek it. Alumni network also funds many events on campus and is also a lead organiser of the NITK Karavali Marathon. All seniors are helpful when approached and ragging is minimal to non-existent.

Admission :

JEE Entrance exam is written and based on the rank list preference orders are given for the colleges one wishes to join through the JOSAA Allotment. There are multiple rounds of allotment, an individual may or may not get their most preferred college based on their ranks.

Faculty :

The faculty of my college has been carefully selected so as to maintain the the standards of this national institute, all of them are PhD scholars in their respective subjects of interest and celebrated research scholars. Although few of the faculty still seem backward, most of them are adjusting to times and helping students in whatever is required.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible to get placements from their 6th to 7th semester as whatever basic is needed by them to a company is embedded into them. Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Cisco, and many other companies visit our college and make many offers. The highest package in my course was 47 L.P.A previous year and average is 7 to 8 L.P.A. Almost all students get placed in our branch almost every year. I just wanna do a start-up after completion of my course and getting my degree.
