College Review

Remarks :

The college is an institute of national importance. There are many flaws within the system of the college. There are many things that this college lacks but overall on a scale of 10 the college can be easily rated as < 2. The current situation makes it even worst.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is as much updated as possible to the latest. The institute try to bring as much reforms to the syllabus as possible. They try to push you to the limits. For example, one of the professors wants to teach a batch of IT students, a new OS called xv6 which isn't taught anywhere in India except for few. I guess the whole country is stupid. The professor refrain to teach you in the lectures so that you have to work harder on by yourself to secure respectable marks in exams. Well, this is not the case with only our college but with pretty much every other Engineering college in India. The students become self sufficient. I wonder if we even need these colleges to do Engineering anymore. The marking done by the professor is horrible, they make sure that you either fail in the subject or if you've written the right answer.(well then you have scored 50% marks). Bravo.

Placement Experience :

The only good thing about the college (and specifically my department) is the placement and internship opportunities. Name a company you wanna work with. Be it Google, Amazon, Oracle, Microsoft, DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs(a CQ company) etc etc. You name it, that company is here.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Since the college is government subsidized, the fee structure is pretty low. There are fee slabs provided which wave off your fee depending on your annual family income. And then there are many scholarship options available. The UP government literally try to teach the students from the UP absolutely free. They even give pocket money. What else do you need?

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college has a pretty clear fee structure where a student can opt any of the provided fee slab. The slabs are based on the annual family income. The student has to provide essential documents. Apart from that the UP government gives scholarship to deserving candidates of UP state. Thus education here is pretty cheap.

Campus Life :

The college has 2 main grounds which are used for pretty much everything. There is basketball court, a skating ring, a tennis court, a gym(which is free for the students) , an athletic ground. A part of the campus was opt for building a swimming pool. But it never finished and the land lies unused. Most of the UG labs are in okay condition. They need some serious look into.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostels are in the same condition as when they were built in 1961. If you exclude the 1st year mega boys hostel than living in every other hostel is like living in slums. The infrastructure is very poor and need much of reform.

Alumni/Alumna :

The seniors are family. They not just help the juniors in studies but also the challenges of day to day life. Probably best thing about the college are the seniors. A proposal of a mentorship program has been given to the director of the institute. Where each senior will be appointed as a guardian to a group of juniors so that the interaction between the two increases. The Alumni of the college is very strong. Every year during the golden jubilee meet of the alumni the alumni takes a report on the current situation of the college and it's administration.

Faculty :

Faculty provided by the Institute is very talented in every domain. The professor are extremely qualified and we take immense pleasure in rubbing our nose to get extra credits. Well most of the teaching staff in my department are not even professors. Majority of them are assistant professors, some of them are even phd. So you can get the idea of the level of knowledge they posses.

Placement Experience:

The placement is very good in my college. From the 7th semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. Many companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Mahindra etc do visit my college. The highest package is 16 lacs per annum and the average package is 4 lacs per annum. 95 % of students of the batch get placement every year. My plan is to get a placement in a product-based company after completing my degree.

In this college, there is 100 percent placement of all students. But some students choose to take admission in post-graduation. Post-graduation course is not available in this college due to University policy.
