IIT Kharagpur

Remarks :

No negative remarks in my mind !! Whatever I experienced was kind of positive things only whether studies or extra curricular activities. One just expect too much ideal situation that you are going to get ac rooms and pizza burger for meal, if you are not one of those, will be happy.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is so flexible, initially one have to go through subject as assigned to him/her. Then second year onwards one can take subjects of his/her own choice, few as additional and few to be selected for their curriculum. One can take subjects from any of the departments during his/her course of study. Exam pattern is mid-semester(30%), end-semester(50%) and class test & attendance(20%).

Placement Experience :

Just amazing placement scenario, in my department almost 100% student got placements and even few got more than one offers and average package was around 9 lakhs per annum for my department. The college also offers internships, stipend is all up to your field of study and work but yeah its decent enough for a student.

College Events :

There are many events which are celebrated in my college, starting with cultural fest known as Spring Fest, just amazing !! Tech fest known as KTJ, one of the best fest one can ever experience in India. Other events are also there like Diwali celebration in a very unique way called as Illumination. In sports, tech, social and cultural events are also there at inter-hall level and inter-IIT levels.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

In recent years, fees has been doubled so wont say it feasible but yeah one can get scholarships if not able to bear the fees, there are many scholarship programs based on merit and even income available to the students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I was getting one scholarship - Merit cum Means scholarship, here one need to maintain just 7 or above CGPA and income level as decided by college at my time it was 6 lakhs per annum. And i was getting my tuition fee waived and Rs 1000 per month.

Campus Life :

Extracurricular activities like one can enroll himself/herself in sports, tech events, social-cultural events etc. Labs are well equipped with all working equipments. I used to play hockey, badminton, chess, cricket and its just amazing, grounds are really good to play and one can involve in any game of his/her choice.

Hostel Facilities :

No other option, everyone has to opt for this option only. And one should never miss the college life in hostels. Although no college here offering world class facilities but yeah its good enough, infact much better to stay happily.

Alumni/Alumna :

A good alumni network, there are a kind of mentorship programs from alumnis and seniors as well, where students are alloted mentors one senior student will be there to assist in anything and mentorship program from alumnis to assist anyone.

Admission :

It was a two stage process, JEE Mains followed by JEE Advanced. Both being an objective paper. At that time JEE Mains used to be conducted once a year but now its twice a year. First one need to clear JEE Mains then will appear in the JEE Advanced exam.

Faculty :

A kind of mixed review, they are good. Few are even very friendly, some are very strict. But almost a good experience from them in this learning period. Few faculties take care of individuals while some don't even bother what others are doing but everyone will be their to help you if you approach them.

Placement Experience:

Students from 7th semester onwards are elegible for campus placements. Some of the companies that visits for placements are Google, microsoft, amazon, pwc, TI, accenture, PPEL, etc. A total of 920 recruiters were there which offered 753 offers to the students and out of them around 75-78% were placed. The highest placement package was offered by microsoft for 51 lpa as PPO to 14 students and the role was IDC. The average package is around 7.5 lpa. I am planning to appear in GATE exam and go for masters in IITs after completion of my degree where i will be persuing my further studies in transportation engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview:

B.Tech in CSE is future proof and a very good course for IT sector jobs and I was always excited working in these companies, that's why I choose the course. There are 10-12 faculties present in every department. Each faculty is M.Tech qualified and Drs. Their teaching quality is very good. 4 internal theory and 2 Lab exams happen each semester. The questions are standard, regular, and sincere students can easily pass.

College was good in terms of studies and many more. But now it fails in giving placement. Most of the students are still unemployed. Only 30% of the students are placed from college. Others have to find there own jobs.
