Best college for me

Remarks :

I did a diploma in acting from AJK Mass Comm Research Center. The college is one of the best institutes delivering a standard quality of education of the media industry.

Course Curriculum Overview :

We are too involved in our classes, where practical learning is preferred over theoretical. Our most of the time is spent on research, reading and developing ourselves in a particular field. The exclusive selection process makes it all in all a useful course. I think we will get industry exposure in the future. The course curriculum is tremendously useful because it motivates us to learn and make us understand the concepts.

Placement Experience :

As it is a professional course, the placement rate is not high, but they make us confident to be able to give an audition anywhere. It is a one-year course, so we haven't got any opportunity to meet any of our seniors, but we have heard from our teachers that production houses like Sony, visit Jamia, every year.

College Events :

As the duration of the course is short, we have to involve much in the course. The college conducts events, but we are not much into that.

Campus Life :

The college provides free Wi-Fi facility. Classrooms are like theatres, so the infrastructure always gave us a positive vibe. The practical session here are equivalent to NSD, which is the best part of this course. The only thing is, you should be enthusiastic to learn a new thing every day. The campus has many canteens, and you will get all types of food.

Hostel Facilities :

I am not a hosteler, so I can't say about the hostel in detail, but I heard that it is comfortable for all the students. The hostel infrastructure of our college is unique and vintage.

Admission :

But, they pick only three or four people from the whole mass communication department as per their requirement. The selection is done on the basis of the confidence and capability of the students.

Faculty :

The teachers are experts in the field they teach. They are very helpful. They are not only qualified but also have a lot of experience in their field. Teaching methods are very simple, that is why it is easy to grab things easily. The teaching style includes theoretical as well as practical learning.

Admission:

The admission is on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the college itself. The students need to clear the entrance exam in order to secure admission to the college. I joined the institute because of its reputation, but at least this branch of the Institutes is not at par with the Delhi branch.

Placement Experience:

The placement record is very good in our college. Leading news channels and National television networks offer placements to the students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. Average salary packages vary from 2 LPA to 5 LPA.

Admission:

Admissions are on the basis of an entrance test. The students who clear the exam, have to appear for the interview process. The interview process was pretty lengthy and tedious. The panel was pretty experienced and they were really in a mood of scrutiny.

Placement Experience:

Placements are pretty good here. Most of the students are employed by the TIMES group only while others sit for the on campus recruitment process where other media houses visit to absorb the best of the talents for the job profiles like TV presenter, video editor, content manager, etc.

The infrastructure I feel could be a tad bit better. Also, the location poses a few issues. If the location could be changed, it would be great!

My days at IIMC were one of the best days of my life and it taught me a great deal about the profession and even life in general. It also taught me a lot of about myself and greatly aided my self realization. I have met some of the most wonderful people here and made friends for life. I hope IIMC overcomes the issues that have been plaguing it and shines again soon.
