Remarks :

Overall its a value for money, no noise environent study atmosphere and very likeable faculities and diversified group eager to learn. A would recomment it to everyone who want to shape their career in short span of an year.

Entrance Preview :

There was entrance exam conducted by the institution followed by interview. The entrace was based on current affairs and general understanding of media , publishing and journalism. Interview was more about being you and your motivation for pursuing this course.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum was vast and required lot of offline reading. The curriculum covered the history, communication, social interaction, parts of print media, online journalism, TV journalism, Editing, story telling , short films. Course focussed on incolving students to take proactive approach to explore new ideas and creating stories as part of curriculum.

Internships Opportunities :

The intern was self search expedition . But there were option to opt for intern from doordarshan. Although that didnt pause anything.

Placement Experience :

There was no campus placement. Although my first job as editor paid me close to 8k per month. Almost 80% of the batch joined somewhere and rest started something on their own or work as freelancer.

College Events :

The institution had annual fest that was really good. Although on film festivals we got member passes to get exclusive look of world class cinema. We had weekly group sessions on understanding our course material. Open sessions were really lightning.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee was moderate 25k annual with nominal final exam fee. Apart from these was nothing considerable as fee. Even this course allowed to purse masters from allied university by paying 20k total fee.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There was No loan facility available or scholarships given by the institution. Although small loans on your own can be availed by yourself.

Campus Life :

Extracurricular includes trips to jaipur or science parts of india. The photographic club was the buzzing club all year long. Film festivals across india were favourite choices everyone.

Hostel Facilities :

There are no hostel or mess. You have to manage all these on your own. I prefer to stay with my family.

Alumni/Alumna :

Almuni network included IIT drama group, Theater artists, Jamia photography club, JNU club, Short film makers, Writers, Storytellers Bloggers and many more.

Exam Structure :

Exam are conducted profesovely for regular evaluation but your final scores has major row to decise your pasa or fail status.

Faculty :

They were excellent . But the vastness of course needed lot of self study and practical exposure. Some visiting facilities were from prestigious universities. Overall i could say the quality of faculties will make you remember this institution.

Admission:

The admission is on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the college itself. The students need to clear the entrance exam in order to secure admission to the college. I joined the institute because of its reputation, but at least this branch of the Institutes is not at par with the Delhi branch.

Placement Experience:

The placement record is very good in our college. Leading news channels and National television networks offer placements to the students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. Average salary packages vary from 2 LPA to 5 LPA.

Admission:

Admissions are on the basis of an entrance test. The students who clear the exam, have to appear for the interview process. The interview process was pretty lengthy and tedious. The panel was pretty experienced and they were really in a mood of scrutiny.

Placement Experience:

Placements are pretty good here. Most of the students are employed by the TIMES group only while others sit for the on campus recruitment process where other media houses visit to absorb the best of the talents for the job profiles like TV presenter, video editor, content manager, etc.

Remarks:

My days at IIMC were one of the best days of my life and it taught me a great deal about the profession and even life in general. It also taught me a lot of about myself and greatly aided my self realization. I have met some of the most wonderful people here and made friends for life. I hope IIMC overcomes the issues that have been plaguing it and shines again soon.
