Both the Delhi Technological University DTU Department of Mathematics and Computing and NSIT Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering are well-respected institutions with strong programs in their respective fields. Choosing one between the two will depend on your personal interests and career goals.

  • MCE at DTU is very similar to COE, whereas ICE at NSIT is a combination of both COE and Electronics.
  • MCE lays down a strong foundation for Maths that is an indispensable part of Computer Science.
  • If you are looking for hefty placements, ICE isn’t a good option.

Ultimately, the final choice depends on your preferences.

How is instrumentation engineering in NIT Agartala? What are the placement opportunities and how will it look like in future?

KD
Kirti Das Posted On : September 18th, 2023
Studied at NIT Agratala (computer science)

NIT Agartala Instrumentation Engineering started functioning in 2009 so isn’t a very old branch. As a result, it does not have a very elaborate faculty and alumni pool.

The infrastructure and facilities are similar to other branches. The lab facilities are great with modern instruments and the professors are very cooperative and student friendly. The placements are decent too but you will have to invest extra efforts to procure the best results. You will require proficiency in a few programming languages, Data Structure, or any other such courses. This will pave your way to getting placed in a top IT firm.

In reality, NIT Agartala's core placement scenario isn’t very bright, and only a handful of around 2-3 core companies visit NITA for Instrumentation. The packages offered aren’t very promising. The last few years, however, have witnessed frequent visits of PSUs, that recruit quite a few students every year. However, getting placed in a PSU requires genuine knowledge about your branch and clarity of basic concepts.

In all, Instrumentation is a decent branch offering a plethora of opportunities given that you are willing to work hard.

B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar ( NITJ ) (Graduated 2021)

NIT Jalandhar for Instrumentation and Control is unquestionably superior to NIT Jalandhar for Civil. There are several points that indicate the same thing. Nearly 90% to 100% of placements are available in the ICE branch. Students of the ICE branch have a chance to get into IT companies which will not happen in Civil.

Furthermore, the faculty at ICE is far superior to that of Civil. Ultimately, you should pursue your interests. Nevertheless, if you're considering Civil, you should be exceptionally enthusiastic about it.

What are the chances of getting into coding after joining ICE in NIT Jalandhar? Do companies visiting NITJ allow ICE students to sit in on-campus placement?

SJ
Shreyansh Jain Posted On : December 7th, 2022
B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Agartala (Graduated 2019)

The first thing you need to understand is that your chances of getting into coding do not depend on your branch.

NIT Jalandhar has an extensive coding environment and almost every student irrespective of their branch wants to learn to code. It also has some amazing clubs like DSC-NIT to help you recognize your interests in coding and other fields like Cloud Computing, Web Development, Android Development & Machine learning.

At NITJ, you will learn coding in your first year only as a part of your 1st-year course curriculum as CP (Computer Programming).

As far as the ICE branch is concerned, it’s the most coveted branch. So if you have joined it you are very lucky. The best part about this branch is its Data Structures & Algorithms course. It is a completely technical course that teaches the most important aspects of coding.

Placements

You don’t need to worry about the on-campus placements. Everyone with

  • a good CGPA (7.5+)

  • good skills like coding,

will easily secure a good package. Placements are not restricted to just a few branches. Students from every branch can sit for placements. So don’t worry about that and just study hard.
