MNNIT Allahabad has a branch sliding option at the end of the first year. But it comes with its own set of challenges. Here are the key requirements in a nutshell:

  • Eligibility: To apply for branch sliding, you need a CPI of at least 7.5.
  • Competition: Brace yourself for some fierce competition. With just a handful of seats available in each branch and a whopping 90% of students applying, it's like JEE Main all over again.
  • CPI Requirement: If you're aiming for the hotshot branches like IT or CSE, you'll need a CPI north of 9.0.
  • Result Timing: Now, here's the tricky part. The timing of the result announcement can be a tad frustrating. You might spend a couple of weeks attending classes in your current branch before you get the green light to switch. It's like a plot twist in your academic journey.
  • Catch-Up Game: So, you'll need to be a master at catching up. You'll join a new branch and realize that you've got some ground to cover.

In conclusion, branch sliding is an exciting opportunity that offers students the chance to explore different academic avenues. However, it comes with a set of challenges, including intense competition, and stringent CPI requirements.

Yes, at the end of the first year, you can apply for branch sliding. However, in order to be eligible, you must have a CPI of at least 7.5.

My brother also applied for branch sliding. There are only a few seats available in the branches (3 or 4), despite the fact that 90% of the students applied for branch sliding.

The competition in-branch sliding is similar to that in JEE Main because there are only a limited number of seats available. To be eligible for a branch such as IT or CSE, your CPI must be greater than 9.0.

The date of the result of branch sliding is totally the mismanagement of academics. For 2 or 3 weeks after commencement of classes, you will have to first attend lectures of your own branch and after the result declaration you will go to the other branch, and slowly you will realize its importance. You have to catch up with what the teacher is teaching.

So branch sliding is possible, but it is a difficult problem to confront, as you will see when you attend the lectures.
