Here are a few things for your ‘to do list’ at IIT BHU.
Explore the city and its surroundings. The narrow alleys, ghats, strange temples, and their age-old construction will enchant you.
Try local food, lassi, thandai, paan. The best places for trying these delicacies are Kaashi Ghat, Bhandar, etc.
You can just roam around the campus with your friends. It is vast and beautiful.

If you are in IIT BHU you will love to do these things.
Spending the nights on Assi ghat with friends, roaming on all other ghats soaking the wind blowing slowly on the shores of river Ganga. You may enjoy tasty lemon tea there by local vendors.
Visit Dhrupad Mela that happens every spring. It is a good place to meet some foreigners while listening to some very soothing music.
Go for a bike ride at night preferably with a huge group on the highway. Cross the Ramnagar bridge on the Ganga river and go up to Mughal Sarai to just have a cup of tea.
Visit Lakhaniya or Raj Dari on a bike. Start in the middle of the night and you’ll reach there by daybreak. Enjoy the awesome falls and return by afternoon. The best time to visit is from Feb end to June.
A glass of Thandai at Baba Thandai in Godowlia is a must-have. The best I’ve had in the city. Huge demand for it comes on the occasion of Holi. Rangbhari Ekadashi is most adventurous if you like Holi. You will enjoy Nagada beats, colors, and dance.
Watch the sunrise from a boat at 5 in morning in foggiest winter days and go for boat ride at Ganga in the morning.
You can go to the new Vishwanath temple on the campus itself to refresh yourself.
The best fun you can ever get is to visit places in groups. Starting from Sarnath, Lakanya, Rajdhari Waterfalls, Allahabad, Gaya, even till Delhi, an outstation trip without much planning.
You can truly feel the life at this place if you live as a Banarasiya which you had watched in movies.
