I am a CSE student at IIT Patna and I will try to justify why choosing IIT Patna for your

CSE is a good decision. Don’t base your choice on how old an institution is. 

All the new IITs like IIT Patna or IIT Jodhpur are doing exceptionally well, some are even competing against the old IITs. IIT Patna has a great campus and it has achieved tremendous success in a short span of time. 

CSE department has a learned and supportive faculty and great seniors. The teams have always performed exceptionally well in the ACM-ICPC and have even made it to the world finals. A good number of students clear the  GSoC( Google Summer of Code). 

NJACK club organizes tutorial classes and workshops on Web development, App development, Android, etc. It also organizes competitions like Capture the Flag, NWoC-an open source coding event, and other competitions throughout the year.

Other interdisciplinary teams which you can join are ROBOCON, Supra BAJA, HPVC etc. 

CSE alums at IIT Patna have made successful startups and others are working in good positions at top MNCs. Overall, the coding culture over here is excellent.

The placements for the CSE department are quite impressive. For 2023 placements, the highest package stood at INR 82.05 LPA. The average package stood at INR 35.57 LPA and the median package stood at INR 32.85 LPA. 98.65% of students from the CSE branch were placed.

In the end, whether you choose IIT Jodhpur, IIT Mandi, IIT Patna, or any other institution, the choice should be based on your personal preference. However, I would suggest you choose IIT Patna CSE as I am quite satisfied with my choice. 

 If you're considering pursuing higher education in engineering, you may be wondering whether to choose IIT Patna or IIT(ISM) Dhanbad. Here's some information that may help you make a decision:

IIT Patna:

• IIT Patna is located far from the main city of Patna, which may be a disadvantage for some students who prefer to be closer to the city.
• The university has some new hostels and buildings, as it was established in 2008.
• The weather in Patna can be pretty hot, which may be uncomfortable for some students, especially during the summer months.
• Patna is a major city, which can be a plus for some students who prefer a more urban environment.

IIT(ISM) Dhanbad:

• IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is located in the main city of Dhanbad, just 15 minutes away from the railway station. It is situated in front of the main market area, which can be convenient for students.
• The weather in Dhanbad is cool and comfortable, with frequent short drizzles that can add to the charm of the place.
• Dhanbad is a smaller city than Patna, which can be a plus for some students who prefer a quieter and more peaceful environment.
• The brand value of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is considered to be high, making it a preferred choice after the top 7+ IITs, along with Hyderabad and BHU.

In summary, both IIT Patna and IIT(ISM) Dhanbad have their own advantages and disadvantages. While IIT Patna is located in a major city and has newer infrastructure, it is far from the main city and the weather can be quite hot. On the other hand, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is located in a smaller city but is closer to the railway station and the main market area. The weather in Dhanbad is cooler and the brand value of the institution is high. 

IIT Patna and IIT Indore are both well-renowned and at par.

• Ranking- IIT Patna is ranked 41 in the NIRF India Rankings 2023: Engineering. IIT Indore is ranked 14th.

• CSE Course fee- The CSE course fee at IIT Patna is around INR 9.62 Lakhs. The CSE course fee at IIT Indore is around INR 8.81 Lakhs.

• Course Duration- The CSE course duration at both institutions is 4 Years.

• Salary Package- The Highest Salary for CSE at IIT Patna is INR 61.30 LPA, whereas at IIT Indore the same is INR 56 LPA.

The Average Salary for CSE at IIT Patna and IIT Indore is INR 26.95 LPA and INR 23.50 LPA respectively. 

Here is a comparison table for CSE at IIT Patna and IIT Indore-

IIT Indore does have a locational advantage over IIT Patna. However, IIT Patna is located in Bihta, and it is the upcoming satellite town and IT hub of Bihar. And as metro facilities will be made available, Patna will become as convenient to live in as Indore. 

But as of now, location-wise, IIT Indore has an advantage. You can for any of the institutions as they both are at par in different parameters such as placements, course fee, etc. Both will offer you an IIT tag along with expertise in your field.

You should Check the CSE Admissions, Important Dates, and opening and closing Ranks for IIT Patna if you want to pursue your CSE at this institution.

I don’t think it’s logical to compare IIT Patna with NIT Patna. Consider the following points 

• The comparison should be done of average packages and not the highest packages. That being said, IIT Patna's highest CTC is INR 29.30 LPA, and NIT Patna's average package is INR 14 LPA. 
• IIT Patna has 8 MOUs with foreign universities and 1 with the UNICEF office of Bihar thus providing better research options than NITP.
• Despite IIT Patna being younger than NIT Patna it has a better development rate than NIT Patna thus devaluing its old establishment. Being an institute of national importance, IIT Patna has better facilities such as 24/7 open Computer Centers, a wifi-enabled campus, better classrooms, better hostels, etc. 
• NIT Patna's development has come to a halt and its current scenario is just average. Whereas IIT Patna is still young and is developing further every year so you can expect it to become better every year. 

So between IIT Patna and NIT Patna, IIT Patna is the clear choice.

My friend was in a similar dilemma last year and chose DTU over IIT Patna. She considers new IITs overhyped and not at par with the IIT standards. Running after the IIT tag is not logical and you should look at the bigger picture. Anaise your career prospects and see if other options fit your prospects or not. 

DTU is a great option for CSE considering the excellent exposure and opportunities you will get in Delhi, the capital. The salary packages, the companies, and the profiles offered at DTU are similar to the new IITs if not better. 

To make things simpler, here are a few pros and cons of going for a new IIT instead of DTU

Pros:

• The most coveted IIT tag name, helps you get admission to foreign universities and also helps you in off-campus job hunt.
• IITs have better research opportunities 
• The academic structure and pedagogy are world-class at IITs

Cons:

• Being in Delhi will groom your overall personality in addition to excellent professional opportunities and exposure. 
• The new IITs fail to give a vibrant and dynamic college life and are still struggling with infrastructure and basics. DTU, being old, has a vibrant culture with all sorts of fests, cultural and tech activities.
• Delhi is the hub of coaching institutes for higher education. 
• DTU has a better brand name established by its successful alumni spread across the globe. 

Ultimately it’s your choice whether you want a better campus life or the IIT tag.
