BTech CSE, VJTI (2017 Batch)

As a BTech graduate from VJTI, I would suggest you to go with VJTI for your MTech in CSE.

  • MTech CSE at COEP Pune and WCE Sangli is also known for its robust curriculum but stands out due to its strong emphasis on practical learning and industry collaborations.
  • Its location in Mumbai also provides students with ample opportunities for connections and internships in the local area.
  • VJTI has a long-standing reputation for providing excellent engineering courses, coupled with its modern facilities.

All these factors make VJTI an ideal choice for pursuing MTech CSE. For admission to MTech CSE, you are required to possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised university and a valid score in the GATE exam.

If you are considering an engineering college, then the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) is definitely worth considering. COEP is a prestigious institution in India with a rich history and reputation for excellence. Here are some reasons why you should consider COEP:

  • Stature: COEP is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India, established in 1854. It has a rich legacy of producing some of the brightest minds in engineering, science, and technology. The college has been consistently ranked among the top engineering colleges in India and has a strong reputation in the industry.
  • Placement Opportunities: COEP has a dedicated placement cell that works towards providing students with job opportunities. The placement record of COEP is excellent, with many top companies visiting the campus for recruitment. The college has partnerships with various industries and organizations that provide opportunities for internships, training, and placements to students.
  • Infrastructure: COEP has a modern and well-equipped campus that provides an excellent learning environment for students. The campus includes libraries, laboratories, sports facilities, and hostels. The college is currently in the process of upgrading its infrastructure with new facilities and modern amenities.
  • Academic Opportunities: COEP has a rigorous academic program that covers both theoretical and practical aspects of engineering and technology. The faculty members are highly qualified and experienced, and they provide quality education to the students. COEP also has research facilities and collaborations with various industries and organizations that provide opportunities for research and innovation.

However, one of the concerns that some students may have about COEP is the quality of the crowd. While COEP is known for its academic excellence and placement opportunities, some students may feel that the peer group is not up to their expectations.

Overall, COEP is a highly reputable engineering institution that offers excellent academic and placement opportunities. While the quality of the crowd may vary from student to student, it is still a great place to pursue your engineering education and build a successful career.

Studied at Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli

WCE is an AICTE approved college whereas both COEP and VJTI Mumbai are autonomous government colleges. When compared, VJTI is the oldest engineering college between the three with the other two colleges being relatively newly established. When choosing between the three, students can compare placements, program curriculum, fee structure, and eligibility.

The points mentioned below highlight the same:

Fee structure and eligibility:

The following table highlights the fee structure and eligibility for M. Tech in CSE at all three colleges.

College Fee Structure Eligibility
COEP INR 1.14 lakhs for the first year Graduation with 50% and GATE
VJTI Mumbai INR 81,750 for the first year Graduation with GATE
WCE Sangli INR 96,930 for the first year Graduation with GATE

Curriculum:

COEP Pune:

  • The two-year course has a number of electives, mandatory programs as well as skill-based and interdisciplinary subjects.
  • Students will learn subjects like advanced computer networks, databases, algorithms, and machine learning as well as data mining.

VJTI Mumbai:

  • The course includes a few elective subjects and courses on computational methods and network programming.
  • Some of these subjects include cloud architecture, advanced database management systems, information security among others.

WCE Sangli:

  • The course at WCE also includes professional electives as well as a number of lab sessions and seminars.
  • Advanced computer networks, computational mathematics, modern operating systems, data mining are some of the subjects included in this course.

Placements:

COEP Pune:

  • With an average salary of INR 5.1 LPA, the college has recruiters like Accenture, Deloitte, IBM, Infosys hiring students from the CSE department.
  • About 50% of students from the M. Tech department were placed for the year 2017-2018.

VJTI Mumbai:

  • Students from the CSE department have an average salary of INR 6 LPA and companies like Ambuja Cement, Blue Star, Deloitte, etc. hire students annually.
  • The batch of 2018-2019 had a placement rate of 60%.

WCE Sangli:

  • As of 2018-2019, the M.Tech class had a placement rate of 40.7% with 11 students out of 27 being placed.
  • The average salary offered is INR 6.5 LPA with companies like Dell, Microsoft, Thoughtworks hiring students.

Placement wise, VJTI is a safe option as it is a well-known government established college. Fee wise, it is also quite economical.
