Which is better for ECE, NIT Surat, NIT Bhopal, or IIIT Allahabad?

I am a student of B.Tech Mechanical at VNIT Nagpur, so I can’t tell you anything about the Mechanical at SVNIT.
VNIT has a good reputation for its Mechanical. Most of the renowned alumni of our college are from this branch. Here’s a few of their names- Dr. Dinesh Keskar (President of Boeing India and VP of Boeing International Trading), Ashish Saraf (Vice President at Airbus), Hemant Karkare, Satyendra Pakhale and Sanjay Joshi. The faculty for Mechanical is good, and the department offers good lab facilities as well. The senior- junior interaction is also good at the department.
Though I do not know much about SVNIT, I expect that its Mechanical department must be at par with the one at VNIT. Do a thorough research before deciding between either of the colleges.
Is taking SVNIT Surat worth it?
One of my friends studies atSVNIT. To him it is a very good college and studying here is completely worth it.
- All the students of the first year second semester went on a college trip to Kerala. It is also known as God's Own Country for its beauty.
- They got to visit the Kolukkumalai Hills.
- Every semester a cricket tournament was held and it was named as Manoj Memorable Night cricket Tournament. This tournament became a tradition in this college.
- The college fest is a five-day program and there were many functions which were held throughout these days.
These days and events are a very important part of college life as it helps in interactions and exposure. Hence, SVNIT Surat is a great college where you will get to explore and learn many things along with your academics and here you will get one of the best experiences of our life.
Is taking SVNIT Surat worth it?
I am an alumnus of SVNIT, and my experience of this college has been great.
SVNIT is a good college in every aspect. It has a good campus, good hostel facilities, decent mess food and good infrastructure.
It is located in a developed part of Surat, the Dumas Road. So it offers good connectivity. The area has easy access to malls, theaters, and amazing eateries.
If you don’t get a top NIT or one of the IITs, SVNIT is the next best option.
Are 5 year int MSC students eligible to change their branch to any 4 yr B.Tech branch after 2nd sem in internal sliding at SVNIT?
No, one can not switch from iMSc. to B.Tech after the first year. The first year courses of both these programs are entirely different. But one can change one’s branch within the iMSc. to and from Physics/Chemistry/Maths.
Having answered this question, here are the good aspects of iMSc. at SVNIT-
- The crowd of iMSc. is very smart and focused, and the environment is highly inclined towards research and innovation.
- The course offers plenty of time to follow one’s passions like sports, drama, coding, etc. This is an important factor for personality development.
- The iMSc. faculty is amazing. The teachers are highly passionate about their subjects, and have a high regard for their respective fields.
- SVNIT offers top notch hostel infrastructure and internet facilities. In this regard, it is better than the top NITs, and even some of the IITs.
The iMSc. program is no less than any B.Tech branch of SVNIT. With hardwork and dedication, one can do wonders with this degree.
How is SVNIT surat?
Here are some details on SVNIT Surat-
- Placement- For placements, the branch and overall performance of a particular batch hold the utmost importance. Last year, the highest package from B.Tech CSE was Rs. 44 LPA, while the average package was Rs. 15.22 LPA. The minimum package was Rs. 5.56 LPA. Out of 106 registered students, 94 were successfully placed from the batch.

- Infrastructure- The campus is fully covered with high speed Wifi connection. All the departments are well-built, and the new ones have excellent lab facilities along with ACs. The central library has centralized AC, separate cabins for multiple purposes, a reading room, and a huge collection of books on various topics in addition to Engineering. The campus has a basketball court, a tennis court, a football ground, a cricket ground, a table tennis room, a huge badminton court and a really good gym facility.
- Faculty and Curriculum- SVNIT is known for its Civil, Mechanical and Electrical departments. The teachers are mostly Phds. Some of them are M.Techs, and in the process of completing their Phds. The teaching quality is below average to average, but there are some combinations of interesting subjects grouped with great teachers in all the branches. The Electronics department lacks behind in terms of both academics and infrastructure.
- Extracurriculars- The institution organizes various events throughout the year. SPARSH is the annual techno-cultural fest. The freshers are a wonderful chance to get involved in college extracurriculars, either as a committee member or as a participant.
These are some of the parameters to assess the quality of teaching and overall infrastructure at SVNIT. At the end of the day, the quality of an institution is defined by the hard work of its students.
How is the M.Tech atmosphere (workload) in SVNIT Surat in mechanical engineering?
The workload for M.Tech Mechanical students is quite manageable at SVNIT.
In the first year of M.Tech, one has to complete the coursework and attend classes from 8:30 am to 5:40 pm. In the second year, one has to complete the dissertation work and Teaching Assistant Duty (which is for 8 hours per week). SVNIT offers five M.Tech specializations in the related fields. These are- Mechanical Engineering, CAD/CAM, Thermal System Design, Turbo Machines and Manufacturing Engineering. The workload varies from department to department.
One gets ample time to prepare for competitive exams as an M.Tech Mechanical student over here. Most people in M.Tech Mechanical do not attend classes regularly, and instead prepare for their entrance exams. So you need not worry on the attendance front.
Should I prefer NIT Surat CS or BITS Goa EEE or CS?
There are several reasons why BITS Pilani Goa Campus CS is considered better than NIT Surat CS. Here are some of the main reasons:
- Better Infrastructure: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a world-class infrastructure with modern facilities and amenities that provide students with a comfortable and conducive learning environment. On the other hand, NIT Surat's infrastructure, though decent, is not as advanced as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- Better Alumni Network: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a vast and active alumni network that provides students with excellent networking opportunities and career guidance. NIT Surat's alumni network, while present, is not as well-established or connected as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- Better Tag: BITS Pilani Goa Campus is a highly reputed and well-known institution in India and around the world. It is recognized for its academic excellence and has a strong brand value. In comparison, NIT Surat is not as well-known or recognized as BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- Better Teachers: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has some of the best faculty members in the country who are highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated to teaching. NIT Surat's faculty, while competent, is not as well-regarded as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- Better Coding Culture: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a strong coding culture, with numerous coding clubs, events, and hackathons that encourage students to develop their coding skills and innovate. NIT Surat, while also promoting coding, does not have as vibrant a coding culture as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- No Ragging: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a strict anti-ragging policy, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all students. In contrast, NIT Surat has had some cases of ragging in the past.
- Better Co-Curriculars and Extra-Curriculars: BITS Pilani Goa Campus offers a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including sports, cultural events, and technical clubs. NIT Surat also offers such activities, but the range and quality of these activities are not as good as those offered by BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- Better All-Round Development: BITS Pilani Goa Campus focuses on the overall development of students, with a holistic approach that emphasizes academic, personal, and professional growth. NIT Surat also aims for this, but the approach and emphasis are not as comprehensive as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
Overall, while NIT Surat is a good institution, BITS Pilani Goa Campus CS is considered a better option due to its superior infrastructure, faculty, alumni network, coding culture, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and overall focus on student development.
Which college is best among NIT Delhi, NIT Kurukshetra, and SVNIT Surat for CSE if my residence is in Delhi NCR?
You need to consider several factors before deciding the best college for yourself. Here are a few factors and the preferred choice if you give preference to that factor alone
- Alumni : The age of the institute determines how strong the alumni network is which is very crucial for the development of the institute. In terms of the alumni network the preference order should be NIT Jaipur=NIT Kurukshetra> NIT Delhi
- Placements: The placement scenario is somewhat similar in all the aforementioned institutes. However, NIT Delhi has a slight advantage being in Delhi. The order should be NIT Delhi > NIT Jaipur = NIT Kurukshetra
- Faculty: In my opinion, NIT Delhi has the best professors.
- Campus : NIT Kurukshetra and NIT Jaipur have equally beautiful campuses whereas the permanent campus of NIT Delhi is under construction.
Ultimately, the final decision depends on your personal preferences.
