Which is better among IIIT Bangalore (IMTech) or PES University (B.Tech in CS) in terms of placements and quality of education?

BG

Here is some information on this subject-

PESU offers good placements for B.Tech CS. But because of a very large batch size, its average package comes down. The top 100 B.Tech CS students of PESU easily grab a package of 10 LPA+.

But IIITB is a better choice. It offers better faculty, peer group, placements, etc. Though PESU has a large campus, a lot of it is under construction.

I would recommend you choose iMtech at IIIT Bangalore, especially if you are not planning for a Masters’ abroad.

Why is IIIT Bangalore underrated?

KP
Kalyan Pande Posted On : October 7th, 2023
IIIT Bangalore

The main reason that IIIT Bangalore is underrated is because it did not commence with the B.Tech. program, the most coveted engineering program. Rather, it offered an integrated BTech+MTech program. For Indians generally, the definition of success is a BTech program followed by good packages. They don’t give much importance to PG education. IIIT Bangalore tried to break this stereotype by offering only PG and Integrated courses and failed miserably.

IIIT Bangalore was established as a research-protected institute but the bitter reality is that making an impact in research takes a lot of time, even years. So, it failed to offer the most basic education and is not valued among engineering aspirants in India.

Which is a better choice between IIIT Bangalore ECE M.Tech and NIT Surathkal Electrical?

BG
Bidita Ghose Posted On : September 16th, 2023
Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

I am listing down certain parameters for a better comparison between both these options-

  • Curriculum- In terms of curriculum, IIIT Bangalore is ahead of NIT Surathkal. At IIIT B, you’ll start learning core subjects from day 1 itself. At NITs, on the other hand, first-year students are taught Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Engineering Drawing, and other subjects that won’t be useful for Electrical studies. Also, at IIITB you’ll be solving industry-relevant assignments, which will give you a good insight into the requirements of your field. The curriculum at IIITB is far more updated and advanced.
  • Faculty- Even in terms of faculty, IIIT Bangalore is ahead of NIT Surathkal. They will give you all the relevant information on recent developments in the field of research.
  • Placements- Both campuses are visited by well-known brands for placements. With an 8+ GPA, you’ll be eligible to sit for placements at all core companies. Maintain good scores and proper knowledge of your field to get placed in a good company, at a package of 20+ LPA CTC.
  • College Life- IIIT Bangalore has a small campus and no good fests. On the other hand, NITK has a huge campus with a private beach. So NITK definitely offers a better campus life.
  • Location- Location-wise, IIIT Bangalore has a greater advantage as it is located in Bangalore. NITK is located in the small town of Surathkal.

Both the colleges are really good. I would recommend you make your decision based on the branch you are interested in studying.

Which should I choose among IIIT Lucknow, IIIT Bangalore or IIIT Delhi?

RB
Rupam Banerjee Posted On : April 14th, 2022
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Lucknow (2020)

On an overall scale, IIIT Lucknow is a good option, despite being a new institute. Although, all three of these institutes are reputed. While choosing one of these, you should prioritize your choice of branch.

  • Besides CS and IT, IIIT Bangalore started offering CSAI. It is a BTech in CS with an Artificial Intelligence specialization. AI is in huge demand these days.
  • All three of these IIITs have decent curriculum, which is designed according to industry trends and needs.
  • Despite being a new IIIT, IIIT Lucknow had good placements over the last few years. IIIT Lucknow placements 2022 had the highest CTC of INR 1.2 CPA. The placement rate for this year was 100%.
  • All three colleges have good coding culture. From IIIT Lucknow, a total of 5 students were selected for GSoC 2021. IIIT Lucknow also has a Github campus expert.

These advantages make IIIT Lucknow a good choice.

What college should I choose: IIT Tirupati or IIIT Bangalore?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : May 9th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

Both IIT Tirupati and IIIT Bangalore are well-respected institutions in India with strong programs in engineering and technology. The decision of which college to choose should be based on your personal preferences and goals.

Personally, I feel you should go for IIIT Bangalore since you seem to be interested in CSE. IIIT Bangalore is a highly reputed engineering institution in India, known for its strong programs in computer science, information technology, and electronics. The institute focuses primarily on industry collaboration and entrepreneurship and is known for its cutting-edge research in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing. Although it lacks the IIT tag, this degree will cater to your interests better than Mechanical. The IIT tag is of no use if you aren’t interested in Mechanicals. Additionally, the new IITs are yet to make the mark and prove their credibility in the engineering field.

Ultimately, the choice between IIT Tirupati and IIIT Bangalore depends on your specific interests and career goals.

  • If you want to pursue MTech after BTech, iMTech at IIIT Bangalore is a great option as you will save a whole year. However, if you don’t want to pursue BTech, you should opt for IIIT Allahabad.
  • The course curriculum and faculty at IIIT B are excellent. On the other hand, at IIITA students are quite frustrated with their faculty.

Based on the above facts and the conversation I had with some of my friends and colleagues who are pass outs from IIITB and IIITA, I would advise you to choose IIIT Bangalore with closed eyes.

Should I prefer IIIT Bangalore CSE or SVNIT CSE?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : January 8th, 2024
Lives in Bangalore

IIIT Bangalore CSE is an outstanding choice in every aspect. It is way better than SVNIT CSE. But there is a drawback to IIITB. It only offers a 5 year integrated program (B.Tech + M.Tech). I have a few friends at IIIT Bangalore, and according to them, a B.Tech is always better than an iM.Tech.

Regardless, IIITB CSE is way ahead. You should definitely consider it, especially if the high fee is not a concern for you.

Bits Pilani Msc Maths and BE CSE Dual Degree Course or IIIT Bangalore iMtech CSE or IIIT Allahabad IT Btech? Which is better and why?

AR
Anirudh Roychowdhuri Posted On : May 11th, 2021
IMTech from International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (2020)

To begin with, the 5-year dual degree program at BITS is significantly more costly than the 5-year iMTech program at IIIT Bangalore, as well as the 4-year BTech program at IIIT Allahabad.

Second, there's no assurance that you'll get CSE at BITS Pilani if you don't have the required CGPA. So, it will be better to consider IIITA or IIITB.

I have a few friends at IIITB and based on what I heard from them, I will definitely recommend the institute.

The arguments in favor of IIIT B are as follows.

  • No reservations policy as it ensures a good peer group.
  • The faculties at the institute are great.
  • The course structure is innovative. There are a variety of courses in the first year, including Calculus using C and Python programming, Algebra Linear, Data Structures and Algorithms: An Overview, Computer Networks with Digital Design.
  • You have the choice of doing a six-month project plus a six-month industry internship in your fifth year or twelve months of study for your master's thesis.
  • Good Placements: It has maintained a great placement record over the years. According to the recent placement highlights the highest and average CTC for the institute was 24.88 LPA and 43.31 LPA.
  • Locational Advantage: Bangalore is definitely a much better location than Prayagraj. The climate is great. Air, road, and rail connections are all available. It is in close proximity to MNC offices and top-tier universities (IISc etc). It also offers the conveniences of a big city i.e. malls, restaurants, hospitals, etc.

I know several students in the iMTech program who have chosen IIITB over BITS Pilani CSE and BITS Goa, CSE.
