Both IIT BHU and BITS Pilani have their strengths and what career you wish to pursue will decide which of the two will be a better option for you.
If students get the same branch at both institutions, they mostly end up choosing IIT BHU. However, most people are offered a better branch at BITS Pilani (main campus) than IIT BHU.
Here are the different parameters for a comparison between the two-
Both institutions are great in every aspect. However, one has a slight advantage over the other in the different aspects as discussed above. Irrespective of the institute you choose, it is your efforts that will make you successful so choose wisely.
There are fewer placement opportunities available for IIT BHU MTech branches compared to BTech branches. Most MTech students apply for jobs through off campus placements. You can get placed in the IT sector if you have good coding skills. Companies recruiting core branch students are fewer in number. As per IIT BHU placement highlights the average CTC for most MTech branches is around INR 6-8 LPA.
I have a few friends, who graduated from IIT BHU. One of them is an alumnus of the Chemical Engineering department. He speaks quite fondly about Prof. P. Ahuja. According to him, Pradeep Ahuja Sir is one of the best teachers, he got to learn from. During the MHRD meet of their department, most students selected Ahuja Sir as the best faculty member, unanimously.
My friends also talk about Prof O.N Singh from the Physics department, Prof. P.K. Mukharjee from ECE Prof V.V. Menon from the Applied Mathematics department.
IIT BHU and Banaras Hindu University are different institutes, though they share the same campus. The administration, management, and admission process everything is different for the institutes. Before becoming an IIT, IIT BHU used to be part of BHU. Now both are independent institutions. Like all IITs, IIT BHU is autonomous and makes its own decision regarding everything.
IIT BHU is 15th in the NIRF India Rankings 2023: Engineering. It is one of the top engineering institutes in India with a healthy curriculum and an impressive placement record.
Apart from the statistical data, IIT BHU is an old and beautiful institution that is situated in the spiritual city of Varanasi. Varanasi is a small town and for those who wish to experience clubbing and party culture during their college days, this town does not have much to offer. But for those who wish to live the joys of a small town with narrow streets and amazing local culture, IIT BHU, and Varanasi is the place for you.
My brother studied Chemical Engineering at IIT BHU, and here are some of his views regarding life at IIT BHU:
IIT BHU is an amazing place to learn, grow and make friends. It offers a plethora of opportunities to its students. You should consider IIT BHU.
Pharmaceutical Engineering is a branch of pharmaceutical science and technology under which the development and manufacturing of products, processes, and components in the pharmaceuticals industry take place. It is only recently that this subfield of pharmaceutical engineering has emerged as a desperate engineering discipline. It’s very important to stay updated with modifications in pharma as it helps you to adapt to change, avail new opportunities, and focus on developing futuristic skills. Basically, this discipline involves much more than just the composition and quality of drugs. It also focuses on engineering aspects of how a drug is produced. Here are a few points pertaining to its current scope in India
The pharmaceutical engineering branch is growing at an exponential rate resulting in huge research opportunities guided by the most qualified professors.
Instead of recommending any specific institute, there are some myths that need to be debunked first:
You must compare the two courses based on the following features:
If you're specifically interested in CSE, then the first four points are almost equal for both BHU and Guwahati. When it comes to the other points, IITG has a better climate, while Varanasi may be better connected and nearer to your hometown.
So, it's up to you to weigh the pros and cons and decide which institute suits you better. Remember to make an informed decision and choose wisely.
The placement scenario of IIT-BHU metallurgical engineering is not as good as other branches but this is improving every year. More companies like Tata Steel, Tata Motors, and Saint Gobain are coming with job offers for B.Tech, IDD, and M.Tech students. The chances of getting placed are more for a B.Tech student than for an M.Tech student.
In the year 2016, 52 B.Tech, 16 IDD, and 10 M.Tech students registered for placement out of which 36 B.Tech, 11 IDD, and 1 M.Tech student secured jobs. The highest CTC was 13 LPA, the lowest CTC was 5 LPA and the average CTC was 7.78 LPA. These statistics have improved in successive years.
In the year 2019, 44 out of 47 registered students got placed and the average CTC was 9.67 LPA. This clearly shows that the percentage of students getting placed and the average package amount has improved over the years.
Moreover, not all students register for placement rather they prepare for other entrance examinations like CAT, GATE, GRE, UPSC, etc. The chances of clearing these entrance examinations are higher here than other IITs because one gets more free time in IIT-BHU and can spend more time in personal development. This will help them in grabbing good jobs even without registering for placements.
Some non-core companies also present job offers that are open to all branches. These recruiters only look for a particular set of skills that one can acquire through online courses in their free time. Thus there are many opportunities for the students and it depends on the student how he/she grabs the opportunity
IIT (BHU) Varanasi has maintained a stellar placement record over the years. Also in recent times, global MNCs have started to recognize Indian talents more and more. This is the reason behind the sudden influx in placement statistics for IIT BHU. Another reason is the student crowd of the college. Despite the poor infrastructure, IIT BHU still attracts brilliant students from all over the country.
The Training and Placement Office has a huge role to play behind the increased placement numbers too. The placement office work actively to invite recruiters and get best placement opportunities for the students.
