Studied BA-LLB Hons at Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, NMIMS (Graduated 2022)

If you're considering attending this college, there are a few things you should know. Here's what you can expect:

  • College is both stressful and demanding, but also fun. You'll need to balance your time wisely to keep up with the workload and still enjoy your college experience.
  • Attendance is mandatory, with an 80% attendance policy for each subject. This means you'll need to be in class most of the time, which can be tiring.
  • Each semester, you'll have to complete a lot of projects. This will keep you busy and require good time management skills.
  • There are also many curricular and co-curricular activities that you'll want to be a part of. While this can be fun, it can also add to your workload.
  • Academically, the college is fairly well. Some subjects have excellent professors, while others have decent ones.
  • One disadvantage of the college is the lack of a proper campus. Additionally, the college timings are extremely demanding and tiring. However, being in Mumbai has its perks.
  • If you do decide to attend this college, you should know that you'll need to prove yourself at every step of law school. It's up to you to work hard and make the most of your college experience.

Can I expect a placement after studying BBA at NMIMS?

DM
Disha Mittal Posted On : January 18th, 2022
B.Sc. Finance, SVKM's NMIMS (2018)

The placement scenario is quite good at NMIMS Mumbai. According to the reviews online, they provide ample opportunities for jobs in MNC’s. Lots of reputed companies visit the campus during their placement process choosing the deserving candidates. Hence the competition is usually high.

But the one thing that students have shown their concern about are the salary packages offered. The data in the website is said to be inflated to attract more candidates. But in a more true sense the salary packages are really less than portrayed. The college claims to provide an average salary package ranging from 15-16 LPA, mostly the students are offered 9-10 LPA.

The course BBA is really good and full of opportunities, but it is suggested that you complete MBA also to get a better salary package from a reputed company like KPMG, EY, American Express, ICICI Bank, etc. They have a highly experienced faculty, so  you will get to learn a lot.

Why would students still join NMIMS, Mumbai even though it has lost its reputation?

NP

MBA in Operations Management & Marketing, Management Development Institute, Gurgaon (Graduated 2018)

NMIMS may have deteriorated over the last few years but it still is considered one of the top 10 B Schools in the country. It is still preferred by many owing to various factors like location, industry exposure, placements, and peer learning.

Pros

  • The industry exposure one can avail owing to its excellent location is a primary reason for its everlasting reputation
  • It enjoys better brand recognition that the newer IIMs
  • The placements at NMIMS are excellent with almost all the companies visiting the top IIMs cities NMIMS campus. However the quality of roles offered may slightly vary. Yet when compared to newer IIMs, NMIMS has a much better placement scenario.
  • The location itself is a major reason why it is preferred over the new IIMs
  • An average person may find it difficult to bag a good package at NMIMS. But if you are among the top students you can easily get a good package as the average is INR 23.07 LP

Cons

The increasing batch size has become a major issue thereby reducing the overall quality of education and placements.

How's hostel life at NMIMS Mumbai?

SP
Sherina Phutela Posted On : March 9th, 2023
BCom(Hons) from SVKM's NMIMS (2019)

If you are planning to stay at the MKM Sanghavi hostel, here are some things you need to keep in mind:

  • Food: The mess facility available charges Rs75 per thali, which can be expensive if you don't have someone to share it with. The mess is open from 7:30 am to 10 pm, but the breakfast is often served late. If you come back to the hostel after 10 pm, you will need to order food from outside.
  • Washing: The washing machine area on the first floor has only a few machines that work. With a hostel of 100 girls, it can be difficult to wash your clothes, especially on Sundays. Additionally, if you have erratic timings, it may be challenging to do your laundry.
  • Water: Although there is a machine on every floor, most girls prefer to order their own Bisleri water as rumors say that there have been worms in the pumped water. Also, hot water is available for a limited time period and often takes a long time to fill up.
  • Fridge: There is a fridge on every floor where you can keep your milk tetra packs with your name on them. However, some floors may not have a fridge, and you will need to ask the authorities to install one.
  • Curfew: The curfew is at 11 pm, but you can still enter the hostel after that time. However, you cannot leave the hostel after 11 pm. During exams and placements, people may stay in the library or other areas until late, and the hostel will allow them to enter.
  • Rooms: The rooms are spacious and big, with most of them being three-sharing and a few being twin-sharing. All beds are single beds with box beds, and you get a study table and a cupboard. Lighting in the rooms is inadequate, and you may need to use table lamps.
  • Bathrooms: The bathrooms are well-maintained, with separate areas for bathing, toilets, and wash basins. However, the lighting is not sufficient, and the plug points may not work.
  • Open drain: The hostel has a large open water drain behind it that leads to a lot of mosquitoes in the hostel. The common area on each floor overlooks the drain, and if you have a room with a balcony, it may open to the drain.

studied Executive MBA at SVKM's NMIMS

Data Science and Business Analytics is an online MBA program offered by NMIMS Mumbai. It is an 18 month-long program. I have a few friends who are pursuin this course. Their experience with the program has been quite good. The course is delivered mainly in two parts, i.e. learning videos on the platform and live sessions conducted by the professor during the weekend. The classes cover a wide range of topics. The live sessions featuring many reputed faculties and industry experts help in solving doubts. The program offers both management subjects and technical subjects like Machine learning and other Data Science related tools like Python, SQL, etc.

The evaluation is done through Internal Assessment/Case Study and a term-end examination for each course in the program. This course is great if you want to gain skills and knowledge in the field of AIML.

If you are interested in pursuing an Executive Education program in MBA with a specialty in Business Analytics, there are multiple options to consider. The business analytics program from NMIMS is one such option, which is provided in collaboration with UpGrad.

This course includes ML in addition to standard organization management themes. However, the cost of the course is pretty expensive, around 4 lakh rupees, and the batch size is quite large, which could hinder efficient learning. Learners with non-technical expertise may struggle with the technical aspects of the course, but assistance is available for clarification of doubts. The faculty members are from NMIMS, so they are teaching faculty, which may get ineffective during interview preparation.

If you are interested in pursuing a course that is best known for providing industrial expertise with job referrals guarantee, Learnbay is the institute for domain specialization with a certification from IBM. The course is suitable for young professionals with less than six months career gap or less than a year's experience in any industry. The course is designed with the aims and objectives of both new and seasoned workers in mind. The courses are specific to your sector of interest, which will aid you in job interviews and boost your chances of being hired. The certification is industry-specific, and you can consult with Learnbay professors for free if you have questions on two or more topics.

The courses include personalized and capstone projects, and the duration is 200+ hours of learning for a total of 6 months. There are both online and traditional classroom formats available for the programs, and you will work on both group and individual projects in your role. You will have access to previously attended lectures for the rest of your life, and a one-on-one session is available every day to discuss any issues that may occur. Any current batch can be joined at any time of day, and student assistance will be provided seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The subscription will last three years, and you will be able to learn at your own pace.

You can switch between weekend and weekday batches at any time. More than 300 hours of in-person or online teaching will be provided, and the courses are designed with the goals and objectives of both new and seasoned professionals in mind by IBM executives and Learnbay instructors. There are offline training options available while working on new projects in a number of locations. The Learnbay offices are located in Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bangalore, and you can join your peers in offline classes or participate in live interactive sessions from the comfort of your own home online. There's also a hybrid option where you can take capstone and individual project classes both online and in person.

Mock interviews and guaranteed job referrals are available with Learnbay. Members of the faculty have worked for firms including Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, and Google. You can work on capstone and individual projects in any industry, and IBM will stamp your certificate with your domain specialty when you complete the course. In addition, the courses are beginners friendly, and the projects are interesting to perform. The course also provides exposure to domain-oriented project experience for a better understanding of the subject and the course.

How is NMIMS currently? What is the placement package?

SD
Sritama Dutta Posted On : January 25th, 2022
MBA Marketing, SVKM's NMIMS (2020)

NMIMS Mumbai is one of the most reputed B-Schools in the country. It is well-established and has a significant industry reputation. It has a vast alumni base, great faculties, and excellent placement statistics. As it is located in Mumbai, students get great industry exposure.

It is mostly known for its Marketing, Finance, IT, and Operations specializations. Companies also offer general management roles in the placement drive. But due to the vast batch size, only a handful of people can get such opportunities. In terms of ROI, it is a bit expensive compared to the other B-Schools in the same league. The living cost of Mumbai plays a huge role in that.

B.tech from SVKM's NMIMS (2019)

Having friends at NMIMS and also being a student there, I can mention it is a well-reputed engineering college. Popular for its faculty, NMIMS will certainly be a good choice for your career. Many professors have completed their PhDs and the HOD itself is an IITian.

There are certain things that make NMIMS stand out -

  • The infrastructure is very good. All the necessary facilities available and the classrooms and laboratories are well equipped.
  • The course curriculum is very good too and it gets updated regularly unlike Mumbai University.
  • The Curriculum keeps on updating, maintaining industry standards and demands.
  • NBA has also given accreditation to this college in B.Tech course which is very promising.
