How can I secure a rank under 1000 in UPSEE so that I can get IET Lucknow?

ST
Shashank Trivedi Posted On : August 4th, 2021
Studied at IET Lucknow (2019)

It should be remembered that there is no substitute for hard work. Gaining admission into state engineering colleges through UPSEE entrance exams has its advantages which makes it easier to perform well in them.

  • Most of the questions in the UPSEE entrance exams would be easier to solve for you because they are of the level of classes 11 and 12.
  • They are not tricky and very easy to answer.
  • There is no negative marking. Even if you are not sure if you answered the question correctly, you will not end up losing marks.
  • The question papers may be lengthy, though.
  • You can prepare yourself for the exams by arranging MCQs of the previous years and practicing them within a certain time limit.
  • As far as the admission to IET Lucknow goes, you can get it at a rank of lower than 1000 after the subsequent sessions of counseling.

The UPSEE entrance exams contain 150 questions and there is a time limit of 3 hours. You must be in touch with your calculations and concept implementation and are accurate in both. A score of 440 or more will give you good chance of getting admitted.

What is the top branch in IET Lucknow?

PS
Payal Shirvastav Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
B.Tech at Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Lucknow (2020)

The answer for this question depends on what your preferences are and what your goals are for the future.

  • If your goal is to get into PSUs, you will have to work hard in ME and if you want to work in the private sector then it would be a good idea if you prepare for something else.
  • You can also opt for pursuing higher studies after completion of your program with the branch you have chosen for yourself.
  • Computer Science (CS) is the branch that is the most popular among the students.
  • The placements and packages offered to the students of CS are higher than those of the students of the other branches.
  • Sometimes even the people who have graduated in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering work hard to get selected in IT companies.
  • For getting recruited by an IT company, you need to have some knowledge about data structures, algorithms, and have a basic understanding of the language of programming.

However, the branches of Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering can often lead to recruitment in PSUs with packages going up to INR 30-40 LPA.

Can we get HBTI Kanpur or IET Lucknow by just doing NCERT thoroughly?

VG
Vansh Gaba Posted On : August 20th, 2021
Studied at Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur

HBTI Kanpur and IET Lucknow offer admission through a state-level entrance exam known as UPSEE. Some sections of the entrance exam have direct questions referred from the NCERT books. Check the following points for subject-wise preparation:

  • Chemistry: NCERT books are more than enough as it has every little detail explained very well. Just going through it well enough will be more than enough in the exam. None of the questions in this section are outside of the NCERT textbook.
  • Physics: For the theory part, NCERT will be enough however, for the numerical, HC Verma will be a good addition along with the NCERT syllabus. The papers given in the back of the NCERT will give you an idea about the numerical.
  • Maths: The NCERT textbook and the practice book will be enough for the regular chapters except for the calculus part. You can also refer to other well-known books like S.L Loni will be useful.

If your basics are clear and you have done enough practice for the exam, then you can easily score a decent rank in UPSEE. NCERT books will definitely help you cover all the topics in a simplified way and crack the exam.

As you have come up with this doubt, I assume that you have got a good rank in UPSEE. So, congratulations on securing a good rank in UPSEE that gave you the opportunity to choose from such elite institutions.

Unless and until it is an IIT, core branches are always a better choice than non-core branches.

Average CTC

Infosys, TCS, Byju’s, Newgen, Adobe.

TCS, Optum, Wipro, Infosys.

Global Logic, Newgen, eLitmus, TCS

Forget about non-core branches in UP government colleges, there is not much facilities and exposure. So, if you are getting a chance, it is highly recommended to go for CSE in BIET or KNIT because in CSE or IT, you just need a laptop and good internet connectivity and these colleges provide WIFI facility. You will have to indulge yourself in regular practice to bring the best out of yourself, as everything is available on the internet.

CSE would be a better choice if you look forward to getting placed after your graduation. If you want to pursue higher studies then, non-core branches at IET Lucknow will give you a better exposure such as coaching institutes, because of its location.

Is it possible to change branch at IET Lucknow? How easy or difficult is it?

DS
Divya Sharma Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at IET Lucknow (2019)

Talking about IET Lucknow, it is an older college in Uttar Pradesh. It is known for its branches of CSE and ECE. Also, the placement record of the college is good. For recruitment, companies such as Adobe, PayTM, Media.Net and D.E. Shaw, and others come to campus. The highest package went up to 36 LPA and the average was 7 LPA.

Addressing your question, I would mention that it is possible to switch the branch in IET Lucknow.

  • The branch change choice is given when you are done with your first two semesters (1st year).
  • The procedure is simple and requires the student to fill up preferences for branch change.
  • The branch will be allotted based on a merit list, prepared on the basis of first-year results. You cannot expect the process to happen soon.
  • During this time you have to attend the same lectures of the present stream which leads you to miss lectures of the intended branch.
  • Hence, if you are allotted your desired branch you may end up taking examinations without attending many classes.
  • But you can always seek help from your teachers and new classmates.

This was a short brief, if you want to get into your chosen branch such as CSE make sure you are among the top 5-10% of your classmates, for other branches, being in the top 20% shall fetch you a seat.

AS
Ameesh Kumar Singh Posted On : August 6th, 2021

IET Lucknow is a good option if it's the last option for you. Chemical engineering is not up to the mark. Having friends from IET Lucknow and online reviews here are some tips for you –

  • Labs are in poor condition.
  • The faculty is also just average.
  • Hostel life is great.
  • The connection speed is fast and HBTI is lackluster in terms of internet connectivity.

Statistics –

Particulars IET Lucknow
Total fees INR 3.44 Lakhs
Placement percent 30%
Highest salary INR 7 LPA
Average salary INR 5 LPA
Top recruiter Tata Consultancy Services

What IET Lucknow is good for is that you get a lot of holidays here and one can easily prepare for various competitive exams as all coaching centers are near so in a way it opens career options because of its location. Or you can try internships.

Join here if you are not getting HBTI or any good NIT or IIT.

How is Electronics and instrumentation engineering at IET Lucknow?

AV
Aditi Verma Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

Electronics and Instrumentation and Electronics and Communication are a part of the electronics department. Both the branches are perfect in their place. Since I have some friends studying Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at IET Lucknow, I might be able to answer your question.

  • If you look at the campus placements then it is not as good as CS, IT, etc. branches.
  • The packages offered to some students of EI are also not good. (about 3 lac average.)
  • But in the GATE exam, every year many students of EI secure good ranks, and even toppers are from IET Lucknow.
  • For example, in the 2016 gate exam, Monti with AIR-4 & Vipin Sukla sir had secured AIR-18 and he graduated from IIT Bombay.
Particulars Statistics
Total fees 4.04 Lakhs
Placement percent 60%
Highest salary INR 14 LPA
Average salary INR 7 LPA
Lowest salary INR 5 LPA
Top recruiters Adobe, Capgemini, Tata Projects, Maruti Suzuki, Byju’s, etc.

The course is good but the placement stats are not very good. If good placement is what you are searching for as the main parameter then you may consider other options.
