The Mathematics Department at NIT Patna is one of the best in the country. The course offered is also highly regarded among math lovers. The syllabus is pretty much like any other NIT and so is the faculty. Students usually have to depend on self-study to score marks.
The institute has a well-stocked library. Additionally, a student-run body called Get Your Book(GYB) also provides books to the students for the whole semester. The Mathematics department has a very small batch size so the classroom sessions might be a bit dragged and monotonous. But the department is newly constructed and has modern facilities.
The students of Integrated M. SC have to study more courses in comparison to other B. Tech branches because they will not be placed like the B. Tech ones. The department delivers BSc, MSc, and PhD programs under it apart from the usual maths courses like Mathematics I and II for other engineering branch students. The branch is perfect for someone who is planning to pursue higher studies instead of getting placed.
Overall, the mathematics department of NIT Patna is great and offers excellent opportunities. The faculty is always available to guide you throughout.
Firstly no, formal wear is not necessary for classes in IIM Calcutta.
Secondly, qualifying mathematics tests for a B.Tech. student is not at all difficult. Just keep your basis strong and you are good to go.
The Mathematics department of NIT Jalandhar is newly established and so not at par with the M.Tech. department. The faculty is not that experienced either and you will find assistant teachers more. Most of the NITs don't have faculties of varied expertise for the MSc program. Moreover, placements are also just average. Most of the students apply for teaching jobs or Ph.D. So opt MSc in Mathematics only if it is your last choice. But if you have already joined it or are adamant about joining it then these tips will help you make the most of the course:
Keep in touch with the Mathematics fraternity around the world
Attend Mathematics seminars and conferences which will give you a better understanding of the subject and its applications.
Initiate things on your own during college seminars, departmental events, or technical fests.
Lastly, focus on your academics
You can make the most out of the resources of this department even if it is lacking in many aspects.
Among the above three, CS at BITS Goa is the best institute to opt for. Agreeing with a few of my friends studying there, I can say that it provides better placements and wider industry exposure.
BITS Goa offers the best curriculum among the three, with no reservation, and offering flexible courses. Through the course, the faculty helps in all sorts of projects and thesis related works. Thought-provoking ideas are extremely encouraged.
The table below states the basic comparison among the above three branches in the specified institutes -

The placement training in BITS Goa is extremely essential and productive. There is an established coding culture in CS, which makes students excel in open source coding more than DTU and PEC students.
The campus culture of BITS Goa is among the top 10 colleges in India. Technical, cultural, and sports fests held here are among the best in the country. BITS Goa is a private college and a newer establishment having the best campus and infrastructure with all the necessary amenities.
Yes, you can get admission to MCA in Jadavpur University even if you have not studied Mathematics in class 12 provided that you have completed BCA. Subsequently, the requirements for MCA are
Or
BCA curriculum includes Maths based electives and therefore does not make it necessary to have studied Mathematics in class 12. Candidates coming from BSc or BCom must have studied mathematics necessarily in class 12.
One major advantage of doing an MCA after BCA is that you get to choose between a 2-year MCA and a 3-year MCA. which is also known as literal entry specially for the students who are coming from Computer Science based graduation.
To be on the safer side, you can again give exams by filling out the NIOS form (National institute of open schooling) and can give exams for mathematics. In case your Bachelor subjects are not considered this Certificate will come to use.
Yes, in fact Bachelors is necessary for any Masters course. So in order to get admission in MSc Financial Mathematics, you will have to complete Bachelors in Financial Mathematics first.
Now coming to your question, Honors in Margs is necessary for admission in MSc Financial Mathematics, I don't think so because I have many friends who are pursuing MSc in Financial Mathematics despites graduating from universities that don’t even offer Honors in Maths. I think all you need is a graduation in Maths.
