What rank is required in JEE Advanced to get CSE in IIT Bombay?

PG
Pratik Gandhi Posted On : March 18th, 2023
B.Tech. CSE, IIT Bombay

To get CSE in IIT Bombay, you need a JEE Advanced rank of 60 if you belong to General Category. This rank keeps getting lower every year. If you are certain of studying CSE at IIT Bombay, then start studying without further hesitation. In case you are still not sure, I have a friend's experience that might help you make the decision. He was interested in Mechanical and was not sure about CSE. With a rank of 70, he went for Mechanical Engineering.

Now there is a course at IIT Bombay that is compulsory for all freshers. The course comprises the fundamentals of Computer Science. Once he studied that, he became certain that he wanted to pursue CSE instead and requested a branch change. In fact, I know many who changed their branch after becoming aware of their passion and inclinations. So you don’t have to necessarily make a decision right now, and can always avail of the branch change option later on. But make sure to make an early decision. Also if your JEE rank is average then you can always change your branch later on. However, an important thing to keep in mind is that this branch change option is possible only if your first-year CGPA is up to the mark.

Whats the least one have to score to grab a seat through jipmer?

SA
Shiksha Ahuja Posted On : October 4th, 2021
Master of Public Health [MPH] at Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research

The cut-off usually depends upon the category you belong from. That being said, if considering that you belong to the General Category, and you are not a resident of Pondicherry, then the cut-off percentile is around 50.

The cut-off is based on the percentile received in the exam. Here are the recent cutoff trends.

Category (As per Guidelines) Minimum Percentile Required
General Unreserved (UR / OCI / NRI) 50
General Unreserved (UR) OPH 45
ST / SC / OBC / OPH 40

Generally, for UR Non-Pondicherry candidates, the available seats are almost about 65, the breakdown of which can be reported as 50 in Pondicherry itself, and 15 in Karaikal. The top 65 rankers are rather marked safe in the list.

Now, if you look closely at the AIIMS and JIPMER merit lists, there are numerous toppers that appear in each of the respective lists. Quite clearly, at least about 30 to 35 candidates choose to leave JIPMER to enlist at AIIMS, New Delhi.

That being said, it is quite natural that the top 100 students will secure a seat in JIPMER under the UR category. The number however can drop down if a candidate is moving to some other college.
