IIEST Shibpur is an excellent institute for courses in engineering, especially civil engineering. It is a well-established and well-known branch. There are several advantages of being in IIEST Shibpur and having a degree from the institute.
My brother has studied there and the points below are his experience at the institute:
Therefore, Civil engineering at IIEST is definitely a great choice for students, maybe even better than NIT Raipur in certain areas.
Here is a brief tabular representation of the key features about Civil engineering at Lovely Professional University

Over the last few years, the trends reveal there has been a significant rise in the number of dream companies participating not only in the hiring process, but also offering internship opportunities. Highest internship stipend bagged by a student was 80,000. Collaborations with leading industry giants such as BOSCH, Bentley Institute, Automation Anywhere enable the students to get familiar with modern technologies and master them as the most sought-after skills. The esteemed faculty members hone the students’ skills at the following levels:
Design and development of solutions and engineering knowledge
Conduction of investigation for complex problems and modern tool utilisation
Project management and finance
Team spirit and competitive skills
Apart from the core curriculum, industry and practical exposure of the students is increased by timely educational visits to hydraulic project sites, dams, sewage treatment plants and construction sites. Workshops, guest lectures, competitive events and participation in other community projects are an integral part of the course which enhances the skillsets of aspiring engineers for specific job profiles. Salient features about the placement statistics are:
Lovely Professional University provides study abroad opportunities in 30+ foreign universities some of which are California State, North Dakota, Warsaw and San Francisco State University
800+ recruiters comprising government and private sectors take part in hiring process
Average placement rate over 70%
Highest package offered was 15LPA
Average package offered was 5.3LPA

If NIT Trichy is your only option, then you can go for it. But for Civil Engineering infrastructure can be a vital factor.
The budget that usually is allocated for infrastructure incorporates buying lands from peasants to fund the research later on with a low-cost housing or environmental impact assessment.
If you have chosen Civil Engineering, based on your electives, you could opt to specialize in Hydraulics engineering, Structural engineering, Environmental engineering, Building materials, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, Infrastructural engineering, and other relevant disciplines.
It is best to get familiar with the topics briefly noted above. Based on your knowledge and expertise, choose one (or more, if required) of the many specializations and then do a brief research on the basic amenities, like faculty strength and similar aspects of NIT Trichy.
However, in terms of academics, NIT Trichy is an excellent choice.
One of my friends pursued Civil Engineering from IET Lucknow. According to him, Civil engineering at IET Lucknow is really good. Let me share some facts I gathered from him, which might help you understand the question a bit better.
Particulars | Statistics |
Total fees | 3.44 Lakhs |
Placement percentage | 50-60% |
Highest salary | INR 8 LPA |
Average salary | INR 4.8 LPA |
Lowest salary | INR 1.8 LPA |
Top recruiters | TCS, Infosys, Analytics Quotient, Adobe, etc. |
The Civil Engineering course at IET Lucknow is good. It is suggested that you should go for it, as it will help you shape your career ahead. Civil Engineering might have a bit fewer placements than CSE or IT, but on a standard basis, it is quite a good institution.
I will restrict my answer to Engineering Physics and Chemicals only as I know the same only.
I wouldn’t suggest anyone go for Engineering Physics if they have no intention of pursuing it later. Instead, look for other options in BTech and explore your interests.
The exact percentage is difficult to tell because the data is available only with the Training and Placement Cell of IIT Madras. The biggest problem with Civil Engineering is that you will not get any immediate opportunities in the same stream. So many of the students who need a job immediately with a good pay package usually shift to other streams.
It is not the case that people are not interested in pursuing core civil engineering jobs. But they want to study what can give them jobs immediately. Unfortunately, this is difficult in core civil engineering jobs. These jobs demand higher degrees which the undergraduate students lack and thus are not considered.
FISAT Kochi has been ranked at 96th for Engineering among Indian Engineering colleges, SCMS Cochin has been ranked 85th and Saintgits (SCE) is ranked in the bracket of 125-150 among Indian engineering colleges. All the above colleges are approved by the AICTE.

Accenture, Amazon, Bosch, Rolls Royce, MRF, Nila constructions, Indian navy, Infosys, TCS, Shobha developers, are some of the major recruiters at SCE. The college provided placements to around 70% of the students from the Civil batch last year.
If you are considering pursuing engineering and wondering which branch to choose, there are some important things you should keep in mind while making a decision. Here are some key points to consider:
If you are still interested in pursuing Civil engineering despite the challenges, then you may want to consider NIT Warangal. According to the author of the original statement, this institution is better than NIT Surathkal. However, keep in mind that this is a subjective opinion and you should do your own research before making a decision.
NIT Calicut is good for Civil Engineering. The department has an experienced faculty base. The laboratories have the apparatus needed to perform exercises but the instruments are old and don’t work properly. But the lab sessions are very useful, you can learn a great deal by attending these, The Civil Engineering Association also provides good workshops often.
NIT Calicut placements are good for Civil Engineering. Around 75-80% of students get placed through the campus drive. The average CTC offered is around INR 8 LPA.
B.Tech is the flagship course of all the courses offered to undergraduate students. The placements for this course are as good as those of any NIT or IIT. Big names such as Morgan Stanley and another tech, financial, and management companies visit the campus to offer placements to its students.
Looking at the market’s current scenario, most of the students at Nirma University choose to go for pursuing their Masters in Business Studies. They even end up going abroad for pursuing core subjects while some even join their family business. The placements at Nirma University do not manage to generate that sort of hype. This is seen most often during the placements for the students of the department of civil engineering.
Prepare yourself for the future during the time you are pursuing your degree. The college prepares you for facing the world. Hone your skills and you will get huge positive responses from potential recruiters during your placements.
The highest recorded package offered to the students of Nirma University during placement is INR 46.27 LPA. The top recruiters are Infosys, HDFC, Reliance, etc.
