If you’ve joined NICMAR Pune as a fresher, you might struggle to adjust to real-world construction after staying in a resort-like atmosphere for two years. You might have to work in remote locations which could be challenging, but with time you will get used to your surroundings. If you have joined a real estate or advisory finance firm in the city instead, the work conditions might be better, but job tension will still be present. As a fresher, it might feel like life sucks, but hard work pays off with time.
If you’ve joined NICMAR Pune as a person with experience, you would be well aware of the site conditions, and NICMAR might feel like a resort to you. However, you should be prepared to face the reality that the situations will not always be the same. As a NICMARian, you will have respect in the construction industry, and your bosses will have high expectations from you. Your dedication towards your work and attitude in the job will decide your future job life, and you need to show your innovative skills and have the vision to succeed in your job.
These two courses, PGP in QSCM and HSEM, are offered only at the Hyderabad campus. As both these courses are very specialized so they ensure core jobs in core sectors.
The main reasons why most people feel reluctant to join these courses are;
Nevertheless, if you are really interested in the above courses then you should go for them because they are really good. PGP in QSCM will open the construction sector and the PGP in HSEM will bring opportunities in petroleum, manufacturing, and mining.
NICMAR has an edge over CEPT because of the wide choice of specializations. Especially if you choose a course related to the construction industry and other common courses then you will have a wide range of job opportunities. You can even get job offers from the IT sector. In my final year of engineering, my parents encouraged me to pursue an MBA at any reputable institution. Therefore, I enlisted in CAT prep classes. I frequently visited a nearby location for my senior year assignment, and each time my interest grew, so I abandoned the idea of pursuing an MBA.
Instead, I participated in campus placements and was fortunate to be hired by Reliance Industries Limited. As soon as I joined the company, I realized I enjoyed being on-site and checking, supervising, and observing all the various activities.
After RIL, I joined the Mumbai-based real estate titan Lodha Dwellers Pvt. Ltd. This was my most productive period ever. Both of my supervisors were phenomenal. They instructed me in invoicing, micro-planning, acquisition, and documentation. It was essentially an entirely new education for me. I had strong communication skills, which made coordination simple for me.
I am glad I made that decision. It is worth it.
NICMAR Admission process gives the maximum weightage to NCAT Exam (150 Marks). It has three sections which are as follows:
Preparation Time: 3 Months
In NCAT, speed matters the most. You should solve the easy questions first. Do not waste your time if you are finding any questions tough. Just move on. Most importantly, you should improve your grade in UG. Participate in competitions and earn certification. Nothing much can be done as what you have done earlier matters here.
During the personal interview, brush up on your basics of civil engineering (concrete and building material especially). The basic HR questions will be asked like why do you want to join NICMAR, what are your long-term goals, etc. They also test your speaking skills by giving you a topic to speak on. So, you can also practice it as it will be good for you in the longer run.

If you are talking about job opportunities, then yes, a NICMAR certificate will be helpful. Although the NICMAR certificate will help you get a job, your salary and job profile will depend entirely on your skills. Further, as you grow in your career, your certificate will not matter much.
NICMAR doesn’t have the brand value effect it used to have in core industries due to its increased student intake. So, a NICMAR certificate can be helpful to get peripheral jobs but it will not help you get into the core sector.
