BITS Pilani hostels are decent with basic amenities. I am attaching a few photos of the boys' hostel for reference. I assume the facilities and rooms of the girls' hostel are similar if not better.
This is the newly renovated hostel below
The rooms are spacious enough for 2 and all basic needs are taken care of at BITS Pilani hostels.
In general, life at BITS Pilani is pleasant. The academic portion is quite typical. But you'll have to live with the results of your choice. BITS Pilani differs from most colleges in this way. It educates you to take responsibility.
Overall, life at BITS Pilani is what you make of it. It can be academically challenging but also rewarding in terms of personal and professional growth. Your experience will depend on how you balance your studies with extracurricular activities and social interactions.
BITS Hyderabad campus life is very fulfilling and vibrant giving you the best college life experience you could ask for. Here are a few highlights that make life here exciting
Overall, life at BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus is very dynamic!
Both IITs and BITS are leading technical institutes in the country and are often compared to each other in terms of placements and the quality of education offered. While IIT is the dream college of many engineering aspirants you will be surprised to know that anyone who makes the bold decision of choosing BITS over IITs has never regretted it.
One of my friends recently joined BITS and was all praise for the institute. He got pre-placement offers from a six-month Practice School internship and also gained a lot of exposure through various clubs. His family had taken this decision after much anticipation preferring BITS over the IIT tag and their decision fetched big profits.
BITS has some unique aspects in contrast to IITs such as the No attendance rule followed in foreign universities. Moreover, BITS is considered highly in terms of industrial ties, placements, Practice School for Internship, clubs, academics, location, infrastructure, faculty pool, and the elaborate alumni base. All this makes BITS an excellent choice over IITs!
In my opinion, if you aren’t certain of your career prospects and don’t have the luxury to spend a hefty amount, go for a government-funded institute over BITS.
Additionally, India as a whole has fewer job profiles in the core sector so it’s illogical to pay such hefty fees for a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical at BITS.
But if you are inclined towards CS then taking a loan might be a good option considering the high packages offered in this branch. BITS dual degree programs are also in high demand these days. BITS has many merit-cum-need scholarships for students from weak financial backgrounds that are provided on the basis of grades and family income.
Ultimately, you should consider BITS if you can afford it and for CS or dual degree programs only.
I find comparing BITS Pilani and IITs very lame as both have their own strengths and weaknesses and have made a strong mark in the educational world. Moreover, the ‘better’ institute depends on the individual and the branch he is looking for. For CS and EE, BITS is going to be the best option for you. But if you cannot afford the high fees then IITs will serve you better.
Although BITS is comparable to the old IITs, the suitability depends on the individual itself and is not generic. Everyone has different criteria to judge a college. Some focus on infrastructure while some give importance to placements and research. It depends on the individual on what to prioritize and then make a choice that suits his priorities the best.
My cousin was very excited when she finally got admission to her dream college. She drove herself to the campus and was amazed by the huge building hovering before her. The campus is located in a serene area away from the noise of city life and has an amazing grandeur. She was amazed by the beauty of the building.
Once the necessary formalities were over, she was escorted to her hostel room and she spent a little time unpacking and settling. She went shopping with her parents to get essential items such as buckets, mugs, mattresses, etc.
Once she was done setting up her room, she started roaming around and exploring the huge campus. The infrastructure left her awestruck and she was excited to consider the beautiful campus her new home for the next 4 years!
BITS Pilani Work Integrated MTech program is for experienced professionals who want to upgrade their knowledge in the same field. Usually, the company asks you to pursue this program or you yourself want to expand your skills.
This course is not a good choice if you are seeking a career in academics or are willing to switch fields or companies. But if you want to climb the hierarchy in the same organization and improve your job prospects then the program is the one for you.
The program will be a unique experience and expand your knowledge base efficiency although the degree itself might not be very useful.
My friend shared her daily routine at BITS Pilani. She woke up at 7:30- 8 in the morning. She takes a bath and gets ready for breakfast. After a fulfilling meal, she looks up at her timetable and then proceeds to the classes. Inside the classes here you will find students. type.
Lab sessions are interesting but here again, many students just come to pass their time. After classes, students take a short nap and wake up for snacks in the evening.
In the evening students can be seen playing sports or hitting the gym. Soon it’s dinner time and students rush for mess registration. After dinner, students go to their rooms and play games or watch movies. Midnight cravings are catered to by the all-night canteen. In case there is a quiz the following day, all the students gather in a single room and prepare for the same.
Overall, the hostel life here is very relaxed and students get time to pursue their hobbies and interests.
