I graduated from VNIT Nagpur a few years back. This story is from my 6th semester days.
A friend of mine was appearing for his Math-II end-sem exam. He was giving his 3rd attempt at the time. His slots for that year were B, C, D, F, G, H. He had enrolled in 6 subjects.
He was afraid that he would fail Math-II once again. However, this time he decided to try his best, and studied religiously. He just needed 20 marks to pass the exam, but the Mathematics faculty follows the binary-correction pattern. So he was sure that getting sufficient grades would be as challenging as before.
Ultimately, he passed the Math-II exam. But having given the paper well filled him with so much confidence that he failed the remaining C, D, F, G, H slots.
This is a funny tale, and we often laugh while reminiscing about it. But this answer is intended to warn you about Math-II. It was quite a difficult subject, especially for my friend.

I had a fantastic experience at the meetup.
VNIT Nagpur is my alma mater, and this meetup revived so many of my memories of this place. I used to organize a number of events during college days.
At the meetup, I was invited as the chief guest. The college canteen, the classrooms, and every other thing about VNIT made me nostalgic. The meetup was a huge success, and a large number of students attended it.
I made close bonds with a lot of people, and had a great time overall. There were discussions on a variety of topics, ranging from movies to social issues, and more. The crowd was energetic, enthusiastic, and bubbling with questions. Unfortunately, I and the other guests couldn’t address all of those doubts because of time constraints.
I feel lucky, having gotten an opportunity to revisit my college as a chief guest. This meetup will always remain a fond memory for me.
When opting for an M.Tech, one wishes to acquire more knowledge than our B.Tech counterparts. Apart from that, one thinks about placements, and the amount of time and effort required for teaching assistantship.
Except for a few specializations in Civil, ECE and CSE, VNIT fails to impart adequate knowledge, good placements and proper Phd. preparation for M.Tech students. As a result, most of us are forced to work in academia on a contract basis.
Moreover, VNIT is located in the outskirts. For making purchases, one has to go to the downtown area of Sitabuldi. This is highly inconvenient for hostelites. The mess food is of poor quality, and campus gates are shut post 10 pm.
The monthly stipend is very less when compared to the hostel and academic fee. Especially for the first two semesters, one has to depend on our parents for fee payment. On top of this, the hostel fee increases by 10% every year.
Some M.Tech specializations are good at VNIT. But in that case too, other factors go against this college. Thus, I won’t recommend VNIT Nagpur for an M.Tech.
After leaving VNIT Nagpur, I’ll miss my friends the most.
They are the ones that make both hostel and college life so memorable. They bang on my door early in the morning, and ask me to mark their proxy. They’ve marked my proxy as well, on multiple occasions. We would bunk classes on some days, and motivate each other to attend the lectures on others.
We go to the canteen whenever the mess food is too much to bear. We play cricket, watch IPL together, perform group studies, demand treats from one another, and so much more.
Apart from that, I will miss AXIS, Institute Gathering (the best event at VNIT, as per me), the greenery of our campus, Mechanical Engineering department and Chatterjee sir’s classes, and probably everything else about this college.
I will forever cherish the time spent at this college.
VNIT Nagpur records decent placements in B.Tech civil. Even the off campus placement drives are organized with the help of college authorities.
This year, 121 civil students of VNIT received job offers. Companies like Black N Veatch, Fluor Daniels, L&T ECC, L&T Powai, Afcons, Pidilite, ZS, Mu Sigma, Futures First, SPCL, IBM and Aarvee associates recruit civil students from the VNIT campus.
Overall, B.Tech Civil placements at VNIT are decent and at par with other NITs.
There isn’t one, rather plenty of things that I wanted to do before leaving VNIT Nagpur-
I wanted to spend one more night at the college canteen with my friends, I wanted to play one last cricket match at the hostel, I wanted to have one last cup of coffee at Nescafe, I wanted to have one last samosa at Nandu’s shop, I wanted to see the sunset at Jhilpi or Ambazari or Futala, for one last time, I wanted to go for one more walk in the campus at midnight, I wanted one last group photograph with my friends.
These are just a few of the many things I wanted to do before leaving my alma mater.
I have recently graduated from VNIT Nagpur.
Based on my experience, here are a few things you must know before joining this institute-
Though it is a national level institution,VNIT requires a lot of improvement in administration, infrastructure and placements.
