- Alumni- VSSUT and CET (OUTR) are both old institutions, so they have a strong alumni network.
- Infrastructure- CET and VSSUT have huge campuses, but their hostels lack modern infrastructure. IIIT Bhubaneswar has a small campus, but top notch hostel facilities.
- Placement- Very few core companies visit each campus, and offer limited vacancies. Only the top performers secure a job in core sectors through campus recruitments. Because of this, students of all branches sit for IT placements. At present, IIIT attracts better IT companies.
- Campus life- In this case, VSSUT is the best choice. Throughout the year, its campus organizes plenty of events and competitions. IIIT has a decent campus life, but CET isn’t a good choice in this respect.
Depending on these factors, choose wisely among these three for your Engineering studies.
Is 100 mark in JEE mains good enough to get into IIIT Bhubaneswar?
If you belong to Odisha, you will have a better chance of getting into IIIT Bhubaneswar with a JEE score of 100. The institute has a state quota. 50% of the seats are reserved for Odisha State students. With your score you can get IT easily, there’s a good chance of getting EEE as well.
Which is better, IIIT Bhubaneswar or IIITM Gwalior?
Both IIITM, Gwalior, and IIIT, Bhubaneswar are information technology or IT institutes of our country and are approved by AICTE. The two institutes are also accredited by NAAC. In addition to this, IIIT is approved by the UGC as well. NIRF has ranked IIITM and IIIT Bhubaneswar at 100 and 201 respectively for engineering.

If you are looking for an ECE branch, you may want to consider IIIT Guwahati over IIIT Bhubaneswar and MIT Manipal. IIIT Guwahati is an Institute of National Importance and is centrally funded, while IIIT Bhubaneswar is a state-funded institute and MIT Manipal is a private institute.
IIIT Guwahati has been making significant improvements in terms of infrastructure and placements every year. In contrast, IIIT Bhubaneswar seems to have reached a saturation point with no significant increase in placement or campus facilities.
Moreover, the faculty at IIIT Guwahati encourages research at the undergraduate level. Many seniors have already started researching on AI, ML, cybersecurity, and communication as early as the 3rd semester. This could be an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in research.
Additionally, all the laboratories at IIIT Guwahati are open to access for students who wish to work on personal projects, subject to administration permission, which is easy to obtain. This could be helpful for students who want to gain practical experience beyond the coursework.
In conclusion, if you are interested in pursuing ECE, IIIT Guwahati could be an excellent choice due to its status as an Institute of National Importance, centrally funded status, improving infrastructure and placement record, faculty support for research at the undergraduate level, and open laboratory access.
How is IIIT Bhubaneswar CSE? Is it better than NIT Patna IT and UIET CSE?
As a student of UIET CSE, I will share some merits and demerits of the same with you-
Merits-
- If you are a good coder, UIET offers decent placement opportunities in the CSE branch.
- There is a 24*7 library facility.
- You’ll get the ‘Panjab University’ tag.
- It is located in Chandigarh which is a serene, beautiful, and well-planned city.
- Your personality and leadership qualities will improve.
Demerits-
- The teaching environment isn’t good. You’ll have to learn by yourself, regardless of branch.
- The tag of ‘IITs’ or ‘NITs’ holds much more significance.
- You might not get the desired placement. In that case, you’ll be sitting for some competitive exam. For a placement in 4.5-5 LPA slab, you’ll have to work hard.
NIT Patna IT is a good option because it offers good placements and an NIT tag. As far as IIIT Bhubaneswar CSE is concerned, you can check all the information related to it and compare it with the other two.
What should I choose for CSE, IIIT Bhubaneshwar or IIIT Vadodara?
Choosing between IIIT Bhubaneswar and IIIT Vadodara for CSE depends on several factors. Here are some factors that you may want to consider:
- Reputation and Ranking: Both institutes have a good reputation and are considered among the top engineering colleges in India. IIIT Bhubaneswar is ranked higher than IIIT Vadodara in various national and international rankings.
- Course Curriculum: You must dig deeper into the course curriculum offered by both institutes and see which one aligns more with your interests and career goals. Check if the institute offers electives that align with your interests and if they provide enough practical exposure.
- Faculty: Check the faculty profiles and their research areas of both institutes. It will give you an idea of the research culture and expertise that the institute offers.
- Campus Infrastructure: Consider the infrastructure and facilities provided by both institutes, such as hostel facilities, labs, libraries, sports facilities, etc.
- Placements: During BTech placements in 2022 at IIIT Bhubaneswar, the highest package offered was INR 25 LPA, while the average package stood at INR 8 LPA. IIIT Bhubaneswar is a recently constructed campus that operates as a satellite campus of IIIT Vadodara. Both institutes share the same placement cell. In the 2021-22 placement drive, a total of 85 companies visited IIIT Vadodara resulting in a 100% placement rate, with an average salary package of 14 LPA.
- Location: Consider the location of both institutes and see which one is more convenient for you in terms of accessibility and cost of living.
Overall, both institutes are good options for CSE. So, make a well-informed decision based on your preferences and goals.
Why are placements at IIIT Bhubaneswar so pathetic as compared to IIIT Guwahati?
There are several reasons why the placements of IIIT Bhubaneswar do not hike to the level of IIIT Guwahati. One of my friends is among the recent alumni of the institute and has a better idea about the same. Here is what he has to say.
- While IIIT Guwahati is an institute of National Importance, IIIT Bhubaneswar is not.
- IIIT Guwahati usually also has the provision of industry support from various major companies because of the status of national importance it has. It also comes under MHRD, GOI directly. IIIT Bhubaneswar doesn’t enjoy the same privilege.
- IIIT Guwahati receives funds and support directly from the central government, unlike IIIT Bhubaneswar.
- IIIT Guwahati was first established by MHRD and was among the few newer IIITs to have their permanent campus quite early.
- The peer group at IIIT Guwahati is better due to the higher cut-off as compared to IIIT Bhubaneswar.
These are the reasons behind the poor placement record of IIIT Bhubaneswar.
Which college is better for CSE, RV College of Engineering Bangalore or IIIT Bhubaneswar?
Without any second thoughts, RVCE is a better option than IIIT Bhubaneswar for CSE. Here are some strong points in favor of this claim
- RVCE is located in Bangalore, India's Silicon Valley. Its excellent location helps establish health hu In industry relations thereby improving the job opportunities and exposure offered to the students.
- The crowd quality of RVCE is excellent as you will be surrounded by the best minds of Karnataka who are top scorers in the Karnataka CET.
- RVCE is one of Karnataka's oldest and most highly reputed colleges so is backed by a strong alumni network.
Overall, choosing RVCE over IIIT Bhubaneswar will offer more opportunities and therefore should be given more preference.
