National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India

My brother got admission to NIT Trichy last year. Here are his tips to do well in JEE Main.

  • You have 2 years to prepare for JEE Mains. Many students get good ranks even with 2 months of preparation. So, you have enough time to prepare. Start as early as possible.
  • JEE is not difficult. It just needs persistence and dedication.
  • Join a good coaching center, even better a dummy school.
  • After you are finished with your basic books, i.e. HC Varma, A Das Gupta, etc. solve as many single choice questions as possible. You can use Arihant, GRB, Balaji publication books for this.

Start preparing early and keep practicing. This is the only way to ace JEE and secure admission at NIT Trichy.

SK
Shoaib Khan Posted On : May 24th, 2024
Studies at NIT Trichy

First of all, it depends on your area of interest. If you find yourself gravitating towards software development, programs, machine learning and all computer-related stuff then pursuing CSE is your option. However, if you find yourself gravitating towards chemicals, chemistry, and how chemicals interact, then you should opt for Chemical engineering. When it comes to choosing the institutes, NIT Trichy is better than NIT Srinagar in all aspects. NIT Trichy is the best among all the NITs. It is known for its wonderful faculty and the campus life that it gives to the students. The chemical engineering department of NIT Trichy is also one of every eBay and reputed. Which is the better course between NIT Trichy ECE or IIT Bhubaneswar for Metallurgy ?

DM
Deepika Mishra Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B. Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering National Institute of Technology (2020)

NIT Trichy would be a better choice than IIT Bhubaneswar for Metallurgy because of the following reasons.

  • The placements are better for in ECE than in Metallurgy.
  • If students fail to get core placement in NIT Trichy, they can still try for top-notch coding and management companies recruiting from the ECE department.
  • There are numerous Technical clubs for first years students who are passionate about Electronics.
  • NIT Trichy has lower academic fees than IIT Bhubaneswar. But it may vary for different courses. The course fee of B.Tech in NIT is 72,100 whereas in IIT Bhubaneswar it is 1.4 lakh.
  • In terms of quality of infrastructure and social life, NIT Trichy is better than IIT Bhubaneswar as it is much older.
  • NIT Trichy ECE in 2019 has undergraduate placement of 95% and IIT Bhubaneswar Metallurgy has 90% placement in 2019.

Which is better ICE at Nit Trichy or bits Goa msc mathematics?

AC
Anita Chakroborty Posted On : August 24th, 2021
Studies Mechanical Engineering at BITS Goa

I have friends pursuing courses you mentioned above at either institute. Based on the discussion I have with them, here is what should be best for you,

  1. The institutes can be considered quite equivalent to one another, but BITS Goa has an upper hand.
  2. M.Sc at BITS Goa can be specialized following the first year, during which you will be allocated a B.E course depending upon your CGPA.
  3. With a 6 CGPA, you can get Mechanical Engineering, which is quite an easy job. In contrast, it is better than ICE.
  4. However, if your scores are high enough then you might get a seat in CSE.
  5. By the end of 5 years, you will be receiving a B.E and an M.Sc degree, which is nonetheless a smarter choice.

However, the fees at BITS Goa are quite a lot.

Which would be a better choice, instrumentation in BITS Goa campus or instrumentation at NIT Trichy?

VS
Vineet Kumar Singh Posted On : August 24th, 2021
Studied at NIT Trichy (2019)

There is nothing called instrumentation engineering. The students usually study the syllabus of the electronic branch that includes learning low-level languages along with the complete command of them.

  • There is a very high demand for highly skilled engineers who know the top programming languages like TopCoder, GitHub, and many more.
  • Learning these languages totally depends upon the person that they can do without going to college.
  • Becoming an electronics engineer totally depends upon the person, and their effort, not the college.
  • Some of the students follow the GATE syllabus to enter into the government sectors.
  • Some get recruitment in top private companies by learning these programming languages. The college can help you out only by giving a proper study environment that can promote your overall development.

If you wish to join the private sector, then only the placement facility provided by the college is useful to you.

Categories Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at BITS Goa Instrumentation and Control Engineering at NIT Trichy
Course Fee 19.19 lakh 5.65 lakh
Highest CTC 24 LPA 22 LPA
Average CTC 12 LPA 10-11 LPA
Recruiting Companies Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Western Digital, JP Morgan, etc. TCS, Infosys, Reliance, Morgan Stanley, etc.

Last but not least we can say that the college for the instrumentation branch is the version of the electronics branch of engineering. It totally depends on you how much effort you are putting into the same and not depend on the college.

Which is better, electrical at IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Dhanbad or NIT Trichy?

MS
Mohan Saini Posted On : August 13th, 2020
B. Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad (2020)

NIT Trichy offers a great learning experience, especially in CS. EE at IIT Dhanbad and IIT Bhubaneshwar is also decent and the placements are quite good and with either of the IITs, you would get that IIT tag. So, it actually boils down to your choice between an IIT and NIT and if you want to give preference to IITs.

The average package for EE at NIT Trichy was around 6 LPA with a 97% placement rate for EE students. On the other hand, for IIT Dhanbad, the placement percentage was 76% with the average package of around 15.5 LPA. In IIT Bhubaneshwar, the average package for 2019 was around 11 LPA and the placement rate was around 86% from EE.

Although, the tag isn’t only something one should go after. NIT Trichy’s EE is excellent and the placements are equally great. Good infrastructure, excellent teachers, and a decent learning and developing environment are what one should seek, and thereby, NIT Trichy would be an excellent choice since IIT Dhanbad and IIT Bhubaneshwar are newer IITs. NIT Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal are better than most IITs.

So, it completely comes down to your personal preference.

What would be my chances of getting NIT Trichy computer science if my total in the JEE Mains 2021 is 212?

SR
Satyaki Roy Posted On : September 15th, 2021
B.Tech Electrical Engineering ,National Institute of Technology,Rourkela (2020)

NIT Trichy is considered one of the best NITs, especially for computer science. The cutoff for the CSE branch at NIT Trichy closes around 634 for OS General and 4358 for HS General, according to 2020 trends. Considering your marks the expected rank will be around 3500. As per previous years, admission stats and cutoff getting CSE with 212 marks will be difficult.

It also depends on factors like whether you are eligible for the home state advantage or not. Students also get an advantage based on their caste as a certain percentage of seats are kept reserved for them. If you belong to the SC, ST, or OBC category quota then you may get computer science. To be on the safer side a score of 280+ is sufficient to get computer science in NIT Trichy.

With 212 marks you will definitely get a chance in CSE at comparatively newer NITs such as Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Patna etc.

How good is an M.Tech in process control and instrumentation from NIT-Trichy? What are the job prospects?

VS
Vaibhavi Sharma Posted On : September 10th, 2021
M.Tech. VLSI System Design, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2015)

Basically, M.Tech in process control and instrumentation is considered a multi-disciplinary course. According to some of my friends studying at NIT Trichy, a student gets the privilege to study varied subjects headed by different faculties like ICE and chemical departments.

  • Earlier the degree of the course was provided by the chemical department but now it has been shifted to ICE.
  • Usually, it has been seen that this branch seems a bit difficult to students as they need to study different subjects.
  • The difficulty arises when chemical students need to study electrical branches or vice-versa.
  • Coming to the placements, if you have a desire to get a decent job after the two years of your program, then NIT is the best place.
  • Starting from the second semester the placement committee develops certain skills that can help you immensely during the final placements.

According to the recent placement report, the following data can be tabulated as given below:

Categories M.Tech in Process Control and Instrumentation in NIT Trichy
Placement percentage 83.3
Average salary offered INR 7.84 LPA
Median salary offered INR 8.50 LPA
Highest salary offered INR 12.81 LPA
Companies visited Tata motors, Veoneer, Valeo, Baker Hughes

Lastly, we can conclude that if you are aspiring to pursue M.Tech in process control and instrumentation, then NIT Trichy is the best place where you can grow along with your holistic development, and get an opportunity to be placed in one of the most prestigious companies.

B.Tech. Chemical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2018)

One of my friends had been a student of NIT Trichy, pursuing B.Tech. Let me share what I gathered from him and some reviews online.

  • The excellence of the courses may vary in each semester, but according to my friend, there are a few courses that are never out of standard.
  • Based on their learning opportunities, infrastructure available, extra-curricular/technical club opportunities, and internships and placements, these are some of the undergraduate courses that are considered best.
  • The courses include -
    • Computer Science and Engineering,
    • Electronics and Communication Engineering,
    • Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and
    • Electronics Engineering is considered better.
  • Keep in mind that you should always take the courses that are interesting to you.
  • Thus, if these courses don’t intrigue you, you can go for other courses as they will be better for you if you are interested in them.

Many students have gotten to know about their field of interest while studying in college. Hence, give some time to figure it out and then make a decision, as this will shape your career further.
