IILM Conducted 3rd National Moot Court Competition from April 4-6

New Delhi: Institute of Integrated Learning in Management University (IILM University) Gurugram organized the 3rd National Moot Court Competition on April 4- 6, 2024. The topic of this year’s moot competition was ''Deepfake and Machine Learning, Constitutional Law, IPR Laws" within the Constitutional law and Intellectual Property law framework. 

The event was inaugurated on April 4, 2024, in the presence of Prof. (Dr) Sujata Shahi, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Ranbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor, and Prof. (Dr) Asha Verma, Pro Vice-Chancellor, IILM University Gurugram. The chief guest of the event was Honourable Justice Navin Sinha. 

Justice Sinha has served as a former Judge of the Supreme Court and as Chief Justice of both the Chhattisgarh High Court and the Rajasthan High Court. 

The moot court competition included thought-provoking dialogues, researcher tests, and an exchange of memorials followed by quarter rounds on April 5, 2024. Young law students, experts and faculty coaches participated in the event in teams of three. It also witnessed the participation of students from top law institutes in the country like NALSAR Hyderabad, NLU Delhi, Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad, OP Jindal University, RGNUL Patiala, IIM Rohtak. 

The winning teams received a cash prize of INR 10,000 accompanied by a trophy, certificate, and medal. Shaarika Singh from IIM Rohtak was given the title of Best Speaker. The Best Memorial Award was bagged by NALSAR, Hyderabad's students Mudit Vohra, Kushagr Tiwari, and Shreyank Nandiwada. Further, Ashish Kumar Patel from DNLU Jabalpur got the award for Best Researcher. 

Vrish Vardhan Singh, Shivangini Choppalli, and Azhan Saleem from NLU Delhi got the trophy of winners along with INR 51,000 cash prize. Furthermore, NALSAR Hyderabad students got a cash prize of INR 25,000 and got the trophy for first runner-up of the event.

According to Prof. (Dr) Sujata Shahi, “The 3rd National Moot Court Competition is a testament to our commitment to promoting legal excellence and nurturing the next generation of legal experts. Together, we are committed to upholding the principles of justice, integrity, and equality to make our nation the Vishwa guru of the world. I thank all the students and honorable guests for their participation and support in making this event a resounding success''. 

The event concluded on April 6, 2024, with the semi-final and final rounds, followed by the announcement of results and the award ceremony. The concluding day was graced with the presence of Dr. Narinder Singh, Secretary-General of the Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi, and Dr. Shikhar Ranjan, Director of The Asian-African Legal Consultative Organisation, New Delhi. Dr. Pavan Duggal, renowned Cyber Law expert. 

"Deepfake technology poses unprecedented challenges to intellectual property rights, as it blurs the lines between reality and fabrication," said Dr. GR Raghvender, an IPR expert.
