Does XAT 2026 have Reservation?

Xavier Aptitude Test, XAT 2026, does not have any reservation policy. Unlike CAT, CMAT and other similar exams, XAT does not offer any caste-based or category-based reservation. All candidates, from General, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PwD category candidates, are treated equally without any benefits during the application, exam, and admission process.

Admission to XLRI is completely based on Merit. All candidates are evaluated following a common merit-based system.

XLRI Jamshedpur is conducting XAT 2026 exam on January 4, 2025. The exam timing is from 2 PM to 5 PM for all candidates. There is no mention of extra time or special accommodations (like scribes) provided for PwD candidates during the XAT exam.

XLRI does not give any relaxations to candidates on the basis of caste or category for admission to its management courses through XAT exam. Also, no concession is granted in XAT application fee for candidates belonging to the reserved categories (ST/ SC/ OBC/ PwD).

No Caste-Based Reservation in XAT 2026

XLRI does not provide XAT reservation for reserved category candidates. All candidates have to follow a common eligiblity criteria, and cdmission is solely based on merit. The reserved categories are as follows:

  • Scheduled Castes (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST)
  • Other Backwards Classes (OBC)
  • Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD)

No Concession in XAT Application Fees 2026

Candidates need to pay INR 2200 for XAT Exam 2026. If you are interested in XLRI programme then you will have to pay additional INR 200. There is no relaxation in fees for the reserved candidates. NRI Candidates have to pay INR 5000. Candidates who want to apply through GMAT needs to pay INR 2500. 

Reservation for Female Candidates in XAT 2026

Although XLRI does not provide reservation for reserved castes or categories, a certain percentage of seats is reserved for Female candidates. This step ensures gender diversity in Management courses. The reserved seat martix varies depending on the course and admission cycle. 

The cutoff marks is also slightly lower for female candidates for admission to PGDM HRM, BM, and GM courses. 

Reservation at XAT Participating Institutes

Remember XLRI and XAT does not have any reservation policy. However, other participating colleges may follow specific reservation criteria which the candidates must check on their respective websites before application. Some institutes may follow the Government-mandated reservation policy as follows:

In conclusion, XAT 2025 does not have any reservation in the exam or in XLRI admissions. Admissions to XLRI are based purely on merit. However, some participating colleges may implement their own policies. Aspirants are encouraged to stay updated with individual institute requirements while planning their applications.
