Delhi University introduces dual degrees for interested students in accordance with the Executive Council Resolution and Academic Council Resolution. Students can pursue dual degree programs simultaneously. They can pursue one degree program in regular mode and the other in open and distance learning mode. For ambitious students looking to maximize their academic potential, pursuing two-degree programs simultaneously at DU can be a compelling option.

Terms and Conditions for pursuing two-degree programs simultaneously

  • Candidates who are interested in pursuing dual degrees simultaneously must inform the University through the Head of the Department or principal of the college. Candidates are not allowed to pursue two similar academic programs simultaneously. For instance, candidates do not pursue B. Com honors and pass simultaneously even though one of them is intended to be pursued in open and distance learning.
  • Candidates must fulfill all the academic requirements such as attendance, internal assessment, continuous assessments, examination, presentation, assignments, etc. of the two academic programs independently.
  • While pursuing dual degrees, candidates must study the compulsory courses for the programs enrolled first. They can substitute such compulsory courses for the program enrolled later with appropriate courses.
  • Candidates pursuing dual degrees must study the requisite set of Ability Enhancement Courses as part of te regular Undergraduate Programme. In the case of other degree programs pursued in open and distance learning mode, such students can either go for another AEC language or select a Skill Enhancement course.
  • Students pursuing dual B.A. programs can take courses from the open Generic Elective pool instead of taking Generic Elective courses to avoid duplication of courses.
  • Candidates are required to take one Skill Enhancement Course or Value Addition Course instead of AEC.
  • Students must write research themes/topics for dissertations/ academic projects/entrepreneurship in the fourth year of the UG program. It should be different for the two different degree programs.
  • Candidates are not allowed to get a major and minor in a discipline by combining the credits earned in two separate degree programs.

How to apply for dual degrees?

Candidates can apply for dual degrees by submitting individual applications for each program. Regular degree applications can be submitted through the standard admission process. Open and distance learning program applications must be submitted to the SOL.
