Dr. Akoijam Mamata Devi is the Principal of Nursing at Nemcare Group of Institution. She holds a B.Sc. at the undergraduate level & M.Sc. in Nursing (Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing) at the postgraduate level. Further, she has also obtained a PhD degree in Nursing from JJT University, Rajasthan. Additionally, she has an EMBA in Health Care Management, Project Leadership Management Practices and a Diploma in Software Management. She is a lifetime member of the Trained Nurses Association of India. She has received several awards and has organized various workshops during her career. She has conducted research on the Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme (PTP) on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) among GNM third-year students of selected nursing schools at Mangalore. She has published more than 37 of her writings to date.

Be responsible for the provision of supervision of students and student activities within the premises. To support and assist the college in meeting the overall objectives and the needs of individual students.


What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

In order to advance their knowledge and skills, students should concentrate on accomplishing. To make the best decisions, they should concentrate on the current academic development. They'll be better able to stay concentrated on their career and personal objectives. Their physical and emotional well-being should also be a priority.


What do you see as the department’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

The implementation of a hybrid mode for value-added courses and MGE (Multidisciplinary General Elective) courses demonstrates a forward-thinking approach in higher education, blending traditional and online learning to cater to diverse student needs and preferences. How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

Identifying goals, objectives, and levels to create a curriculum that complies with the standards or provides answers to the current issues/gaps in teaching. A curriculum must be updated as per the current scenario and recommended procedures for increasing student learning and monitoring progress. Although there may be resistance to curriculum changes, better learning methodologies and curricula enhance student learning and simplify the teaching process.


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students that help them gain the necessary skills?

Embracing technology-based learning approaches has revolutionized education in recent years. The flipped classroom strategy flips the traditional teaching model by having students engage with lecture materials independently and then using classroom time for interactive discussions and problem-solving. Gamification incorporates game elements into the learning process, making it engaging and motivating for students, while simulation-based education provides a hands-on, experiential learning environment. These innovative methods not only enhance student engagement but also cater to diverse learning styles, fostering deeper understanding and retention of knowledge, and preparing students for the dynamic challenges of the modern world.
