In addition to this, she has also completed her PGDBA (Finance and HR Specialisation), MBA in Finance & HR, and M. Com Finance. Being a HOD of Commerce department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

As HoD of Commerce department my role and responsibility towards the students include:

Teaching: My primary responsibility is to teach the students in my classes effectively and to help them learn and develop new skills and knowledge.

Course Design: I must design and develop effective course materials, including syllabus, lesson plans, and assignments that align with the learning outcomes of the courses.

Assessment: I must assess the performance of students fairly and provide timely feedback to help them improve their performance.

Student Support: I should be available to students outside of class time to answer questions, provide guidance and mentorship, and support them in their academic and personal growth.

Professional development: I must engage in professional development activities to improve my teaching skills, stay current with new trends and developments in my field, and contribute to the academic community.

Academic Advising: I must provide academic advising to students, helping them select courses, make decisions about their majors, and plan their academic and career goals.

Service: I must contribute to the academic community by participating in departmental and institutional committees, serving as a mentor or advisor, and contributing to the advancement of the profession.

By fulfilling these roles and responsibilities, I can contribute to the success of my students, the department, and the institution as a whole.


How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

To establish a healthy relationship with the students and fellow faculty, I have followed some crucial steps like effective Communication, being approachable, I take interest in students’ queries and believing in fair and consistent manner of teaching. I believe in leading by example.


How do you try to bring in a practical approach to the subject and make it industry oriented?

To bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make them industry oriented, I have followed some strategies such as using real-world examples, inviting guest speakers, staying up-to-date with industry trends and collaborating with industry partners.

How do you help your student cope with the competition being so high in the outside world?

As competition is arising in the outside world, we suggest some ways for students to cope with competition. Like, having a growth mindset through mentorship and support. We want to foster a sense of community among the students. We emphasize on practical skills to help students gain exposure to industry professionals.


Do you have any extracurricular activities/programs the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

We organize various co-curricular activities like several Clubs, GDs, Debate competitions, Sports activities, Seminars etc.

When you came to the college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same? 

As an academician, my goal when I joined was to empower and provide students with the skills and knowledge, they would need to succeed in the ever-changing business world. I try to do this by giving interesting lectures, giving students opportunities for practical learning, and encouraging them to think critically and solve problems. My ultimate objective is to produce graduates who are not only academically capable but also confident and competent enough to succeed in their chosen careers.

Our Department at ITM updates its curriculum frequently to reflect current business best practices. To incorporate business knowledge into our instruction, we collaborate with top businesses and experts. We also give our students hands-on training through internships, real-world projects, and case studies to make sure they are prepared to meet market demands.

I would advise students to focus on developing a strong foundation in their subject area, hone their communication and problem-solving skills, network with professionals in their field, and gain practical experience through internships and industry projects. It is also crucial to stay updated on industry trends and embrace lifelong learning to remain relevant in a constantly evolving job market.
