You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

I acknowledge the untapped potential within the education sector, where diverse strategies have the capacity to achieve desired outcomes that educational institutions frequently overlook or underutilize. My recognition extends to the imperative of fully harnessing this potential. Education communication embodies a comprehensive 360-degree methodology. It encompasses the entirety of the educational product cycle, the institution's evolution over time, and the facilitation of career advancement. This holistic approach involves leveraging a variety of social media platforms to effectively disseminate information and foster engagement. Of particular intrigue to me is the exploration of novel communication platforms that can optimise engagement levels.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

At the core of my belief system lies a fundamental principle: placing people first. I firmly believe that the key to effective leadership and the success of any endeavour rests on the genuine care, understanding, and empowerment of individuals. This perspective underscores the profound impact that human connection, empathy, and collaboration can have on achieving shared goals.

Leadership, to me, is not merely a position of authority or a hierarchical role; it is a dynamic and purpose-driven act. It involves the art of uniting diverse individuals, each with their own unique strengths, perspectives, and backgrounds, under a common banner. This act of unification is driven by a compelling cause, a noble purpose that transcends personal interests and resonates with the collective aspirations of the team.

A true leader, guided by the principle of putting people first, seeks to inspire and uplift each team member. This involves recognizing their inherent worth, valuing their contributions, and creating an inclusive environment where everyone's voice is heard and respected. By fostering a culture of mutual trust and open communication, a leader nurtures a sense of belonging and shared ownership among team members, encouraging them to invest their best efforts.

Moreover, the act of bringing people together for a shared cause is a multi-faceted endeavour. It entails effective communication, strategic vision, and the ability to align individual strengths with the overarching objectives. A leader must not only articulate a clear and compelling vision but also provide the necessary guidance, resources, and support to help each individual flourish within the collective pursuit.

How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practice of industry?

This is my favourite question. Here at ICRI, a mix of both practical and theoretical learning is the key to having the best industry-oriented course. Our curriculum meets the demand of the new India, which is industry exposure. After COVID, we all saw the global education system go online. We have embedded industry training certifications (having both modes, i.e., offline and online) in the curriculum that ensure the best exposure and acknowledgement from the future employer (industry-specific).

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

The top most priorities will be as follows:

Top placements for the students.

Top industry network for practical exposure of the students.

Making education enjoyable, which is a serious concern in India. It should be mixed more and more with engagement activities to develop a skilled professional ready for a New India.

Last but not the least is the launch of short term courses to upgrade the skill-sets. As the industry keeps on changing every 10 years, so to meet the industry requirement, more short term programs should be launched by the universities.

What would you like people to know about your university/Organization they may not know?

It holds the distinction of being the pioneering force behind the inception of innovative educational pathways in India, heralding the arrival of what is now known as New Age" courses. This journey commenced two decades ago, marked by the trailblazing launch of clinical research courses, thereby carving an indelible mark in the landscape of Indian education.

This institution stands as a testament to visionary thinking and the courage to venture into uncharted territories. It recognized the evolving needs of both students and industries, foreseeing the demand for specialised fields that went beyond traditional educational offerings. Introducing clinical research courses two decades ago, sowed the seeds of a paradigm shift, paving the way for a diverse array of contemporary educational pursuits that bridge the gap between academia and industry.

The term "New Age" encapsulates the spirit of progression, modernity, and relevance. The institution's foray into this realm resonates with its commitment to staying ahead of the curve and addressing the dynamic requirements of today's fast-paced world. The advent of clinical research courses marked the beginning of a transformative era that emphasised practical skills, experiential learning, and direct applicability to real-world scenarios.
