Dr. Kochuthresia Josse is an assistant professor at Cochin College in Kochi, Kerala. She holds an undergraduate degree from Devamatha College and an M.Com. from St. Thomas College. She has completed her doctorate from Mahatma Gandhi University. Additionally, she has worked at St. Thomas College and M.A. College Ramapuram for three years. Furthermore, she has published papers in national journals and has attended many conferences and workshops.

Being an assistant professor, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students? 

As an educator, my prime responsibility is to determine a student's goal and help them achieve it. Also to encourage students to overcome obstacles and keep going. 


How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

I always try to maintain a friendly relationship with my students so that they can freely talk about any issue related to academics or others, and they can ask for help at any time.


How do you try to bring a practical approach to subjects and make it industry-oriented?

In our department, we try to conduct practical training programs for the students and group discussions to identify industrial-related programs. 


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students that help them gain the necessary skills? 

Our department arranges person development programs and soft skills training to enhance the skills and knowledge of the students and give them practical experience. We also arrange extra coaching sessions and doubt-clearing classes for the students.

What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department?

We can provide training and add-on courses for acquiring additional knowledge and industry-oriented skills and conduct seminars and workshops for a better understanding of the students.


When you came to the college, what was your vision, and how are you trying to achieve it?

When I first started my work in this department, my main vision was to become a motivator, advisor, and role model for my students. I will try my best to achieve the goals of students by supporting and motivating them. 


What do you see as the department’s greatest strengths, and how can they be enhanced?

The strength of our department is our experienced faculty members and talented students. Also, we always try to provide a friendly atmosphere in our department so that students feel comfortable interacting with us. 


What valuable advice would you like to give to the students so they can have a prosperous career ahead?

I always advise my students to grow their skills and knowledge, which will help them in their future careers. Also, they should be updated about their surroundings and will keep updating their knowledge. They should be focused on their lives and keep a balance between their personal and professional lives.
