Dr. B. Raghavendra Prasad is the Vice Principal of P.V.K.K. Institute of Technology. He holds a BA in Economics, an MA in Economics and an MBA in Finance. Thereafter, he earned a doctorate degree in public finance from SKU, Anantapur. With more than two decades worth of experience, he has worked as a Senior Lecturer at PVKK Degree and PG College, Principal at CMI Degree College and Vice Principal and HOD of MBA at PVKK Institute of Technology.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

I worked in many disciplines. Whatever it may be, discipline, sincerity and hard work are most important. I have worked in key positions that have given me immense experience that adds to my love for this field. In my capacity, I have to communicate and work with faculty members and students, understand their problems and collaboratively work towards the college vision. Being able to solve problems so that students have a successful career keeps me motivated to keep teaching.

Being the vice principal of PVKK Institute of Technology what is your philosophy of leadership how do you describe your leadership styles?

As a vice-principal, I have been given the responsibility of taking care of admissions by the Sri Balaji Education Society. However, my role is multi-faceted. I work with the students, faculty members and all other stakeholders when strategizing key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of the college. Although there are many colleges and institutes under the management of the college, we have been given the duty to handle admissions, which is what we primarily work towards.


Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

The PVKK Institute of Technology has been successfully enrolling a good number of students every year. In my role, for marketing, I maintain contact with the principals of junior colleges to conduct programs for our intermediate students. We also organise outcome-oriented courses that students can complete during their summer vacations to boost their resumes. We also organise a free MSET coaching camp for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. So far over a thousand students have been trained in this program. We also prioritise extracurricular activities for our students. We hold the annual sports tech event where students from nearby colleges also attend different sports and games. This not only contributes to the overall well-being of our students but also creates networking opportunities for us.


The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently in your experience what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your college?

Since our chairman took charge in 2018, we have been following JNTUA’s set curriculum. However, he has taken numerous initiatives to enhance our student’s learning. Under his leadership, we have numerous courses being held today. He actively maintains relationships with other companies, organising HR summits that benefit students. Moreover, he provides training programs in Python and Java, ensuring students are well-prepared for placements. The chairman extends maximum cooperation and support, making the overall experience rewarding. Our curriculum places a lot of emphasis on industry best practices. It does not concentrate on the mere theoretical aspect of the courses but also on practicals.
