Dr. Vijaya Prasad is a distinguished academician and able administrator with more than 20 years of experience. He has grown from the ranks right here in the institute, starting his teaching career as Assistant Professor from 2006. He obtained his Ph.D. from JNTU, Kakinada. He has published 25 research papers in various reputed National and International journals, besides a couple of patents to his credit. In his impressive teaching and administrative career, He has consistently promoted innovative teaching practices and imaginative thinking. You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Education is the most important for the development of our nation so providing quality education according to industrial requirements and continuous learning. Education can build a person to grow certain heights in his career.


Being the Principal of DJR College Of Engineering, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

Coordination with management, staff and students. Giving importance to every staff member and friendly nature with all the students. Resolving the issues of faculty and students on time will make them work properly and study properly.


Being the Principal of DJR, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

Being the Principal, I always analyze the current trends and set goals accordingly, I always prepare plans and implement the plans to reach the goals. My ultimate goal is to reach the students in a practical way of knowledge and make them shine in theory and also in their academics.


The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your university?

Students who join the college will learn and improve their skills which the companies are expecting from fresher as they have industrial training in one of the semesters. The practical approach will make.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of industry?

The college is affiliated to JNTU Kakinada and State Board of Technical Education and Training so we follow the curriculum JNTUK and SBTET apart from that we conduct skill development programs to improve the students communication skills and improve their practical knowledge.


Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

The college is for everyone there is no importance for any race, background etc. anyone can join and we welcome everyone. Government is providing scholarships to the students and the college also provides some scholarship programs to the students who are coming from very poor backgrounds.


What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?

The college started in 2009 and has grown tremendously since then and I would like to continue that success in future. Look at the current trends and prioritize skills and education that are bound to help the students in their future. Providing quality education for the students and providing placements before they leave the college.


What do you think should be the Institute top priority over the next 10 years?

Establish a standardized process to increase the intake of the students’ and introduce new courses. Setting goals to become the best college and work hard to reach the goals. Our curriculum is also designed in international standards which is our top priority.

When you first came to DJR College, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

To provide quality technical education for students who are not economically strong and students from rural areas. To implement the vision we worked for a long time with the cooperation of management, staff and students.


What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for DJR College specifically?

The biggest challenges are enrollment declines, budget, and emerging college alternatives for students to join. We need to make rural people who come from poor backgrounds lack communication skills need to improve their skills gradually for a better career for them.


Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

Skills like communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and flexibility have always been important for work and life. But they will be even more crucial for future generations. Rapid advances in technology are transforming the world of work. So concentrate on improving your skills. 


How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute/ university?

Provide a framework that addresses the physical, emotional, mental health dimensions. Enhance classroom health strategies that engage participants in learning. Mobile devices and gadgets are making addiction for many of the students. They need to use electronic devices wisely without addiction.
