Mr. Ashim Barman is the Additional Registrar (Administration) at ADTU. Currently, he is doing Ph.D. from Assam Down Town University, he has done MBA in Human Resource Management from Vinayaka Mission University. He has been working as Additional Registration in ADTU since 2016.

You have held key positions at Education University throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

The factors that keep connected me with the education sector are dedication, passion, quality education for society, woman empowerment through education, free education delivery for society upliftment, and practical and industry-oriented program for Skill India.


Being part of Assam Downtown University, Assam what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

My philosophy of leadership is believing in reality rather than real. Strong leadership is the key to the success of a team and an organization. I believe in collaborative, 360’ approach style leadership in a decentralized way. Motivation is the factor to keep the morale of the team high and allows them to work freely in a stress-free atmosphere.


Being a part of Assam Down Town University, Assam how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the administration of your university?

The administration is the key factor for the success of any organization. University belief, quality of professor & administration team strategy. We always try to keep ourselves updated with the current trends in the education sector and chose a correct administrating plan accordingly as per the situation. We believe in education for all so we offer scholarships to the student, and we offer a platform of e-kalyan for student’s financial support.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your 

India is a developing country and we are now in the phase of New India which formulated a structured educational system for the society. ADTU believes in quality education. At ADTU we have adopted many measures to make sure that the students get the best experience. The teachers are well-trained and have a good command over their subject. This in turn makes the student’s concept clear. We teach them the purpose of studying what they choose to study and how it is going to benefit them. Our aim here is to make our students totally “Focus on an in-depth knowledge of all the subjects”


How does the curriculum of the ADTU ensure the best practice of the industry?

An effective curriculum provides teachers, students, school leaders, and community stakeholders with a measurable plan and structure for delivering quality education. The curriculum identifies the learning outcomes, standards, and core competencies that students must demonstrate before advancing to the next level. In all our professional courses we make sure that the teachers we appoint have vast industry experience. Such teachers know how the industry works and what the industry requires. Thus, they deliver the curriculum accordingly. We have renowned industry professionals on our board of studies to provide a tailor-made course curriculum.


Any insights into how your college could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

ADTU facilities a diverse mix of students from all parts of society. ADTU has a special scheme for the girl students and ones who are differently-abled, or a minority, hearing impaired and international candidates. Our scholarships are designed for the low-income group and other schemes are given to the privileged students based on their merit.


What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the college and the students are?

I provide executive leadership in assisting the chancellor in the overall planning. I also assistin organizing, controlling finances, administration, and academic program areas. I take a keen interest in solving student’s problems which need more attention. It is my responsibility to provide the students an atmosphere for their overall growth and necessary knowledge and skills to make them a better professional.


What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the next 10 years?

The top priority is to give quality education to the students. Providing proper training to the teachers and keeping them updated with the latest technology and pedagogy. Lastly, I want ADTU to be established as a brand and leave its impact all over the nation.


When you first joined ADTU, Assam what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision?

My vision of the university at the time of joining was to make ADTU, Assam one of the best universities in India. The university provides quality education to students from all parts of society and makes them quality professionals as per the demand of the Industry. The university also provides skills through training that are important in encouraging entrepreneurial thinking in our students. We have been successful in achieving this to a great extent but still, our efforts are continuing towards the same.

What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?

ADTU is focusing on environmental conservation as a necessary part of the education system. We want everyone to know that with our regular courses, our priority is to safeguard and conserve the environment. And also make our students eco-conscious and skilled professionals.
