What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

The concept of "being yourself" is often misunderstood and can lead to complacency. Instead, focus on constant self-improvement and growth. Strive to be deserving of your achievements by challenging yourself every day and refusing to settle for comfort in your job or career. Your career should be on an upward trajectory, always aim for higher goals and embrace new challenges. Similarly, approach life with the mindset of continuous development and growth. Embrace the incremental graph, not the stagnant state, and make each day an opportunity for personal and professional advancement.

What do you see as the university greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

The biggest strength of the ADTU is its mission and vision. Our aim is to improve the availability of a quality education system, recruit world class faculty, develop the best environment, and accelerate the education system in the Northeast. To enhance our individual strengths, we should believe in the college’s beliefs and contribute our fullest so that we also achieve our goals.

How does the department enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them according to the industry standards?

Enhancing a faculty member's skills is crucial for their empowerment and effectiveness. This involves developing competencies and capabilities through training and practice in a wide range of techniques, approaches, and strategies. We try to develop faculties’ soft skills, counselling skills, interpersonal skills, and lifelong learning abilities, all of which contribute to effective planning and conducting of assessments. By continuously honing these skills, faculty members can better support their students and create a conducive learning environment.

How does the curriculum of your department ensure the best practice of the industry?

An effective curriculum plays a vital role in fostering specific employability skills in students. Our faculty members offer valuable insights regarding the practicality and efficacy of the materials, while our students' input on engagement, learning efforts, and overall impressions of the curriculum is also considered. When designing a curriculum for a technical profession, involving industry representatives in reviewing and evaluating its alignment with industry expectations is crucial. Ideally, this collaboration should occur during the development process. However, if it hasn't been done, the department should consider engaging a representative to review the curriculum and ensure its relevance to industry demands.

When you came to the Institute, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

When I initially joined, my vision was to educate students to be successful, ethical, and effective problem-solvers. I wanted them to be lifelong learners who would contribute positively to the economic well-being of our region and nation. I aim for my students to be prepared to tackle complex challenges in the world. I feel like, through my classes and contributions in a role, I have achieved this vision.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

The biggest challenge in today's education system is to recognise the difference between learning and accepting. Children start their studies but do not understand it properly and then forget the difference between how they learn and how much time it takes them to learn. So to bridge this gap, we must educate those students in the right way, which is a challenge facing the department.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from your department or how does your department prepare students for higher education?

Research has revealed that a significant proportion, one in three, of interns do not actively engage in their work. This lack of engagement can stem from various factors, including disinterest, skill gaps, or uncertainty about their role. To address these deficiencies, conducting periodic competitions among students and assessing their areas of interest can be beneficial. By identifying student’s strengths and passions, we can implement strategies to encourage their active participation and provide the right opportunities for growth. It is important to explore and implement ideas that motivate and empower interns to fully engage in their work.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

Practical skills in education can train their students and gain industry focus. Being industry focused means two things: keeping up with the industry and involving the industry. In addition to keeping up with current trends and technologies and implementing them into the daily classes, we invite experienced people from the industry to do workshops with our students and teaching staff. By doing so, we get fresh ideas and inspiration to improve the practices in the classroom.
