Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and Technology

What is the latest program that you are offering at Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

Recently we have introduced two courses in the CSE branch. One is computer science engineering which is called Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), and the other is data science. CSE data science is called CSD. In the future, only AI and ML are going to rule the whole software field. And shortly in two to three years, or four to five years maximum, this AI and ML will rule like anything. Data science also rules the software companies and the software world. Keeping this in point of view, we have updated our college courses with these two new branches.

What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt for?

These two courses which we have introduced for computer science and engineering, especially aim to develop a strong foundation by using the principles and technologies that consist of many facets of artificial intelligence, data science knowledge representation probabilistic models, and machine learning. So these courses are best suited for students seeking to build world-class expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning data science, and emerging technologies.

What will you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?

The students shall explore the practical components of today's work. There are practical components to developing all courses. That is AI, ML, data science, CSE, ECE, and all other branches. And they need some proficiency actually that we will train up. They explore the practical components of developing their platforms. They shall be able to acquire the ability to design intelligent solutions for various business problems in a variety of domains and business applications. The students will be exploring fields such as neural works, natural language processing, robotics, deep learning, computer vision, and reasoning.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

The key objective is to identify logic and reasoning methods from a computational perspective, learn about agents, search probabilistic models, perception, and cognition & and then depth in data science and artificial intelligence. In all aspects of computer science courses, electronics, and communication engineering courses, and then electrical courses, civil, and mechanical, they will have hands-on with industry projects and regular sessions by industry experts, gain expertise in advanced topics and cognitive computing, human-computer interaction.

What are you most proud of in your career so far?

I have given international seminars at IIT, Patna that is Bihar, and then IIT, Delhi, and then NIT then REC, Warangal and Kakatiya University Warangal, Osmania University Hyderabad, and JNTU, Hyderabad in Jawaharlal. In Nehru Auditorium, I presented one international presentation, which was appreciated by many people in my research field, which is in solid oxide fuel cells.

What strategy do you employ for building an efficient work team?

Qualified faculty members of my department have been making constant efforts to improve the student's knowledge and fundamental principles and understanding of the basic sciences. Besides academics, the department also participates in the development of student's communication and soft skills to boost them in a competitive environment. Our team provides valuable education and builds up the basic knowledge of science and engineering among the students, which enhances the understanding of the basic knowledge. We will provide some basic amenities to all and also required amenities to all our staff members by encouraging them with some loyalties and some gifts and some increments and bonuses, etc.

What was the most challenging task that you faced in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?

Mostly, our students are from poor backgrounds and village backgrounds. So what we do is, in the beginning, we have to strive hard to motivate them. So for this what we do is we will be arranging some guest lectures and we will be mentoring the students and we provide so many opportunities for the students to develop, like arranging some personality development classes, and soft skill development classes. In that what happens is so many students are fearful and they won't come out. They won't open up. They will be introverts. So we have to make them extroverts. For that, we face a lot of problems and then we struggle hard.

What do you find most difficult about being a Head of the Department?

When the workload is more and some students are unable to follow any topics, then it will be somewhat difficult for me to rearrange things and again bring back everything to set rights everything back into the field. I'll be facing some hardships there. Some students are very stubborn and some students are not interested in some things because they have some business background or some other thing.

What is your Vision for Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad in the next Five years?

My vision is to impart the state of art technical education to students to face global challenges and to meet the ever-changing needs of society with a human touch, and also to promote them from the normal level to the APEX level.
