Mr. K. Tulasi Krishna Kumar has been the TPO in the TPCG Cell of Sanketika Vidya Parisahd Engineering College since July 2015. He has done Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 1st Class from S.V. Government Polytechnic College (SVGP-SBTET), Tirupati. He has completed a B.Tech in Information Technology with 1st Class from Sreenivasa Institute of Technology & Science (SITAMS - JNTUA), Chittoor. M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering with 1st Class from Viswodaya Technical Academy (VITS-JNTUA), Kavali. He has authored and published 4 books. He has 36 papers in international journals along with 12 international memberships.

For how long have you been with Sanketika Vidya Parishad Engineering College?

I take care of training and placements. I have been with the Alwardas group for the last eight years. I joined here in July somewhere in 2015. From the very beginning, I have been with Sanketika Vidya Prashad Engineering campus as a placement officer.

What do you think about your roles and responsibilities?

 Right from the beginning we are purely into training and placements. We take care of training our candidates from the pre-final year and when you want to put it to me concisely, I can tell you the roles and responsibilities to me are like coordinating with the Sanketika Vidya Parishad Engineering College final and pre-final year students and the faculty members to know the market understanding. To conduct regular training programs, meetings, discussions, and student enrichment programs. 

We also take suggestions from corporate principals and the management and higher level based on that we give them different kinds of training programs. That's a major role that I as a placement take here and as a responsibility. As nothing can be done by a single person, a team is needed. So we have a team of 17 people of which we have taken 8 different faculties from every department of Engineering, MBA, and MCA. We also associate them with the students who are currently studying every year so that we can understand both the student's prospects and the faculty's prospects.

How many members do you have in the placement team and how they are working?

As I just mentioned, we are a team of 17. Of these 7 of 17 will be students and the remaining will be faculty members. The student team changes every year when they come to the final year and faculty from every department. So we allow 1 faculty as a coordinator from every department who keeps interacting with the pre-, final, and final-year students to understand how many of them are. You know we classify students into three groups. One is the people who are interested in getting into it, the other one is the people who are interested in getting into only the core companies like from the branch of study. And few students want to get into higher education and all. So we do classify them and to understand we have a team of 17.

Sanketika Vidya Parishad Engineering College has been in, you know engineering since 2002 and we started our first academic batch in 2003 even before IT had this market trend. We are always with very good corporates from the core production management and we do get it. We also get some core companies that take in engineering students from mechanical, civil, and electrical into their core branches. Just to put in information like last two years, the companies we had like electronics, we had companies like Fastest Technocrat. 

Sanketika Vidya Parishad Engineering College had people like Triangle Teleservices, recruiting electronics to go on into networking. We have companies like Seven Hills Health. Moreover, we also have people like Volvo HR and Shivani Pumps who recruit electrical and other kinds of branches. We have core mechanical companies like Hyundai for the production plant, and Mando under the companies which take it.

Sanketika Vidya Parishad Engineering College is the only college in Visakhapatnam to give recruitment into John Deere to direct production plant and when it comes to it, these days all companies are doing the recruitment online. Even that even through direct recruitment we get some companies which directly walk into our college and do the recruitment like we have miracle taking our students regularly. We have Sky Detail and we have companies like Tessal, we have companies like Aventel. We also have companies like Digitos to mention a few like roughly in and we have around 15 to 16 companies that regularly walk in and do recruitments for our students.

What are the different training programs you offer?

So when it comes to training programs, we generally get students from different backgrounds here like we get students from Srikakulam and Vizianagaram. Moreover, most of the students also come from the places of Odisha and Chhattisgarh where they are not that well with language, but they work well with technology. They learn their subjects. When it comes to language, they are not that effective in understanding the requirements and the student's strengths.

We do six different kinds of training programs. One is on the competitive exams because few students are interested in getting into the government kind of jobs from mechanical and civil. So we provide some training programs specific to corporate exams and the competitive exams and then we give them soft skill training also. When it comes to soft skills, we give them the training program to attend, how to face an interview, how to be corporate enough and I think enough to face. 

We also give them language skill training programs where these language skill training programs help them. Moreover, we also give them life skills in handling group discussions and other kind of formats. This is very important. We do have a good ratio of female students also. So we also give them life skills and ICT skills because when it comes to CSC, they are good at handling computers. But coming to mechanical these days even the recruiters are looking for students who are good with hyper springs and students who are good AutoCAD employees. 

We understand the market demand and we are majorly giving training programs on competitive exams, soft skills, language skills, life skills, ICT on computer training skills, and career guidance roughly four to five programs on average. To say in one year roughly we are giving 15 to 20 programs depending upon the branch and the kind of students.

How many placements have been there till now Sanketika Vidya Parishad Engineering College and in which streams?

As I have mentioned staying in Visakhapatnam, we majorly get companies from the production network, IT, and sales because we do have MBAs and we get people from networking mostly from network kind of companies. It is simple for the students who have 60 plus and who are interested in getting into placements, we roughly have 90 to 95% of our students who got placed through direct campus interviews, and the remaining students are like they wish to go to higher education and all.

What are the highest packages the students have got till now?

Let me tell you that last year we had one student Vishwaksein who took an internship from a company called Candela here in Visakhapatnam and he has now just finished his B.Tech. We are proud to say that he is taking a package of 10.6 lakh and we do have different kinds of packages for different students. Not only send the students through the final of year recruitment, but we also push the students into internships from where they turn into recruitment. 

We are tied up with many local and national level internship offering companies like my company and a few other companies. They are taking our students for internship programs. We are sending our students to mechanical-based companies and we have also recently sent our students to Manda, Hyundai, and many other companies where we are getting an average package of around say 4.5 to 6.5 LPA in common.
