Mr. Rajesh Tiwari is a Professor and the Head of the Department at the Corporate Institute of Science and Technology. He holds a B.Tech. from RKDF Institute of Science and Technology along with an M.Tech. from MANIT. Mr. Tiwari is currently pursuing a PhD in Machine Learning and Technology. He has over 18 years of experience and was awarded the Best Faculty Award at the institute.

Being a Faculty of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

My commitment is to take the classes on time and to provide the best knowledge to the students. I do this through updated knowledge in the field, presentations, ICT tools, notes or various tools that are beneficial for students’ success. I also ensure the processes and procedures in my department are going smoothly.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

The Corporate Institute of Science and Technology has a TG system where 30 students are assigned. Through this system, students can clarify their doubts with their mentors. Additionally, they can complain about any issues they have regarding their academics or personal areas. We look at these complaints 

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

We are bound by RGPV so our main goal is to complete the syllabus. Additionally, we have prepared 15 modules where students are given lectures and are trained on essential skills. Our goal is to provide them with up-to-date knowledge of the industries so that they can excel in their careers.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges? 

We conduct various extracurricular activities, such as sports and cultural and technical events. We have events such as LAN gaming, code wars, and model presentations. In this way, we try to inculcate the necessary skills like communication and leadership and keep their knowledge sharp. This will help immensely when they start working.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students in order to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

We have prepared various modules for our students. They are prepared and taught by a team of experienced and highly educated faculty to provide the students with updated knowledge of the latest industry trends and standards. We also emphasise practical skills through lab work and industry visits. Our students go through mandatory internships and get to work on case studies as well.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead? 

To have a successful career, I would advise students to find their dreams and aspirations. With that, formulate a goal to work towards. Find your purpose and set up an action plan to achieve it. Keep learning and upskilling to remain competitive but also find the time to de-stress and take care of your mental health.
