Out of 120 minutes, candidates must solve Language Skills questions in 28 minutes which is a little more than 1/5th of the total time. Similar to other sections of NMAT 2024 like NMAT Quantitative Skills and NMAT Logical Reasoning, no penalty of negative marking is applicable.

  • NMAT Language Skills section usually contains around 3-4 passages from Reading Comprehension that are moderately difficult. 
  • Out of the total 36 questions in this section, attempting about 24-28 questions would be an ideal attempt for Language skills.
  • As per NMAT 2024 Syllabus, verbal ability comprises topics like antonyms and synonyms, word usage, concepts of grammar, para jumbles, idioms, phrases, etc.

Syllabus

NMAT 2024 Language Skills Syllabus

NMAT Language Skills Syllabus is mainly divided into Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. While both these parts are important in order to score well in NMAT 2024 Language Skills section, verbal ability has a total weightage of around 66% from this section. Out of 36 questions, around 22-24 questions can be expected. The important topics for both parts are tabulated below:

  • The difficulty level of the Language Skills section was considerably higher than last year.
  • The major questions asked were from topics like Reading Comprehension, Para jumbles, Analogy, and Error Detection. 
  • The questions were easy but time-consuming and the vocabulary used was difficult to comprehend. 
  • There were around 4-5 easy questions on Para Jumble.
