The NIT Jamshedpur will release the NIMCET cutoff 2025 on its official website after the result is declared on 27 June 2025. The NIMCET cutoff is the minimum rank needed for NIMCET counselling and seat allotment eligibility, and the NIMCET qualifying marks are required to pass the NIMCET exam.

  • The General category needs at least 50% (240 marks out of 480), the SC/ST category requires 45%, at least 216 marks, and the PwD category needs around 40%, 192 marks out of 480.
  • For the General category, the NIT Trichy and NIT Warangal are expected to have the highest opening ranks of 30–40 and 80–105, respectively, while NIT Surathkal and NIT Allahabad are anticipated to have ranks of 167–180 and 200–220, respectively.

To secure a seat at the top branches of the NITs like NIT Trichy and NIT Warangal, the candidate should aim for a score of 360+ raw marks (750 weightage marks). This article contains the NIMCET Marks vs Rank analysis and previous years’ cutoff data to help you understand your chances of getting into the Top NITs.

NIMCET 2025 Expected Cutoff and Safe Score?

As per Amit Katiyar Sir, most of the students faced difficulty in the maths section, students could not attempt more than 20–25 questions in Math, and even among those attempts, accuracy was uncertain.
According to feedback, 450–500 marks are most likely to get an all-India top rank in NIMCET 2025, with 240 marks in Math (20+ correct), 150 in Reasoning (25+ correct), and 90 in English (15+ correct). A mark range of 300–350 (15 correct in Math, 20 in Reasoning, 10 in English) is reasonably safe for getting admission in good NITs. The majority of candidates are likely to score between 200–270, so even a 1–2 mark variation is important for ranking.

NIMCET Cutoff 2025 College–wise

The expected NIMCET Cutoff 2025 of the various NITs shows that top institutes like NIT Trichy and NIT Warangal will have lower opening ranks (30–105 for general) but higher closing ranks, reflecting the most competitive campuses of NIT.

The OBC-NCL candidates are expected to have the cutoffs ranging from 176 to 836, whereas the SC and ST categories will have higher closing ranks, at 3,305 and 4,895, respectively. PWD candidates are expected to have a lower cutoff ranging from 8997-1778.

Overall, while top NITs will be highly competitive with the lowest opening ranks in the Round 1, especially for the General category. The reserved category candidates will have more opportunities in other NITs.

NIMCET Qualifying Marks 2025

The NIMCET 2025 cut-off marks show that the candidates need to secure a minimum of 50% in the General category, which is around 240 raw marks. SC/ST category candidates will have to obtain 45%, or about 216 raw marks, while PwD category candidates will need a minimum of 40%, or around 192 raw marks.

This indicates that the General category will be highest in terms of qualifying marks, whereas the reserved categories (SC, ST, PwD) will be slightly lower, which will provide wider opportunities to the candidates belonging to these categories.

Category % Required Equivalent Raw Marks (approx)
General ≥50% ≥240
SC/ST ≥45% ≥216
PwD ≥40% ≥192

NIMCET Marks vs Rank

The NIMCET Marks vs Rank 2025 analyzes the estimated rank a candidate can get from their respective marks. A candidates with at least 360 raw marks (about 750 weighted marks) are expected to be ranked between 1–100, those with 300–359 raw marks (approximately 620–749 weighted marks) will be ranked between 101–500, candidates having 240–299 raw marks (about 500–619 weighted marks) will have ranks from 501–1,500, and those with 180–239 raw marks (about 380–499 weighted marks) would probably have ranks from 1,501–3,000.

For below 120 raw marks, ranks are likely to be above 6,000, meaning less possibility of getting in. Above 360 raw marks is the best possible chance for the premier NITs.

Raw Marks (480) Weighted Marks (approx) Expected Rank Range
≥360 ≥750 1–100
300–359 620–749 101–500
240–299 500–619 501–1,500
180–239 380–499 1,501–3,000
120–179 260–379 3,001–6,000
<120 <260 >6,000

What is the minimum cutoff of NIMCET?

  • For SC/ST candidates, the need to score around 216 marks (45%), and for PwD candidates, it is around 192 marks (40%).

In addition to the cut-offs, candidates also need to fulfill academic eligibility on the basis of their performance at the undergraduate level.

  • For General and OBC candidates, a total of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 is required in their qualifying degree (for instance, B.Sc., BCA, or B.Tech).
