COAP 2024 round 4 seat allotment has been released and the last date to Accept and Freeze/Retain and Wait/Reject and Wait is June 4, 2024.
- COAP round 5 will begin on June 8, 2024. All eligible students can accept & reject, retain & wait, and reject & wait till June 10, 2024.

Common Offer Acceptance Portal, shortly known as COAP, on which all Participating Institutes and PSUs will upload their offers in a common time window as specified. It is a common time window, where you can check which IIT or PSU you can apply based on your score. It must be noted that it is not a separate application portal, and students must refer to the respective websites of IITs and PSUs for applying. There is no COAP 2024 registration fee and registration number is made mandatory by the participating institutes for M.Tech admission.
IIT Kanpur has released the official notification of COAP 2024 schedule, eligibility, and guidelines. To register, you must be an Indian-residing applicant. To apply for respective COAP 2024 rounds, candidates must fill in their name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, GATE 2024 registration number, and valid GATE score. GATE COAP 2024 rounds 1-4 will have the option of accept and freeze, retain & wait, and also reject & wait. However, you cannot choose the “Retain and Wait” option more than twice on a specific order. Round 5 is a decisive round, where only the “Accept & Freeze” and “Reject” options can be selected. Rounds 6 to 10 are decisive as well as referred to as additional rounds. In these rounds, you have only “Accept and Freeze” and “Reject” options alike Round 5.
The "Accept and Freeze" is for those willing to accept one of the offers. After clicking the 'Accept and Freeze' option, the candidate should click submit to confirm the submission of the decision. Similarly, for someone selecting “Reject” option, he/she is not willing to accept any of the offers in the current round, and all offers made during that round will be considered rejected.
The “Retain and Wait” option must be selected if a candidate indicates his/her partial acceptance of any one of the available offers. It must also be chosen if he/she would like to be considered for upgrading to the candidate's higher preferences (if any). Lastly, “Reject and Wait” is the option if someone is not willing to accept any of the offer(s) of admission/job in the current round.

COAP 2024 round 1 started on May 13, 2024. COAP 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates willing to participate in any of the above COAP 2024 rounds, must satisfy the following eligibility criteria.

COAP 2024 Registration Process
Candidates need to remember the following points regarding COAP Registration Process. A flow chart of COAP Registration and login is provided below for a better understanding of the procedure.
- The following information is necessary for candidates to register for COAP 2024: Name, GATE registration number(s), valid GATE score(s), GATE paper code, date of birth, email address, and mobile number.
- To be eligible to register for COAP 2024, a candidate must have qualified GATE 2024/2023/2022 exam and be interested in applying for M.Tech. admission at one of the participating institutions or employment offers at PSUs. A candidate can obtain information about offers made by the participating Institutes after completing registration at COAP. COAP 2024 Admission and Seat Acceptance Process
Candidates are required to fill in their program preferences while filling out GATE 2024 Application Form. Based on the preferences, they will be allotted seats and the below-discussed options in hand when it comes to accepting those seats.
Option 1: Accept and Freeze
- If a candidate is satisfied to accept the offers issued to them and does not want to be upgraded to higher preferences in later rounds, they will select this option.
- Candidates who select this option in subsequent rounds will not be admitted.
- The candidate must select the "Accept and Freeze" option and then click the submit button to confirm that their decision has been made. The candidate should then visit the admissions portal for the appropriate academic institution and stick to the webpage's instructions.
Option 2: Retain and Wait
- If they want to be considered for an upgrade to their higher preferences, if any, in the next round of offers, candidates who intend to indicate a partial acceptance of one of the offers must select this option.
- Candidates who select this choice will not be considered for any other offers in the current round that they declined.
- However, if a stronger preferred offer is made in the subsequent round, the present "Retain and Wait" offer will be withdrawn. For the same offer, an applicant may only choose "Retain and Wait" 2 times.
- If there are any higher preferences available, the candidate will be considered in the future round(s) of admission at the participating academic Institutes.
- After choosing the "Retain and Wait" option, the candidate should click Submit to confirm the submission of the decision.
Option 3: Reject and Wait
- The applicant should select this option if they do not want to accept any of the admission offers made in the current round.
- In the succeeding round(s) of admission provided by any participating academic Institutes, the applicant shall be taken into consideration for any additional higher preferences. This offer will not be offered again in the following rounds as a result of your rejection. After choosing the "Reject and Wait" option, the candidate should click submit to confirm the submission of the decision.
