Remarks:

The institute has set up Master's program in public policy to produce the professionals who are interested to serve the public interest. The program is open for the students of all backgrounds. Bachelor degree/ Master degree in Arts /Comnerce/ M.Sc degree / 4 years Bachelor degree etc are some academic criteria. MPP program doesn't need a mandatory work experience for SF/SW/ FA and any other students but the submission of valid GATE score is necessary.

Placement Experience:

In the midst of COVID- 19 the institute started virtual placements for its 2019-2020 students. The highest and average salary package range from INR 20.43 LPA to 10 LPA. Some of the reputed companies for institute's all time recruiters list include - Samsung, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Good curriculum, we did have good field exposure but industry exposure was missing. Faculty has been top notch in their fields and put in a lot of efforts to teach us. There has been an undue pressure with respect to academics sometimes but it can be handled with more focus.

Placement Experience:

Placement opportunities depend on each batch. Mostly social sector does not rely on a lot of contacts and connections for jobs and hence the job search is a crucial and difficult task. Also since it's a new course the recognition is relatively lesser.

Ques. How are the placements for MPP in NLSIU?

● Top Answer By Rudra Roy on 04 Oct 21

Ans. One of my friends recently graduated from NLSIU. Here is his insight on the placements at NLSIU.  There is no placement cell in the institute. Students get placed through a student-led body called RCC (recruitment coordination committee). An average of 30 percent of students get placed. Around 50 percent don’t have a proper job secured during graduation.  The institute has its reputation however the course and curriculum provided by the institute don’t prepare you for any corporate job. Getting into the top company is only possible if you are in the top 5 of a strength of 70 people in the class. You will have a chance of getting into the big four, i.e. EY, KPMG, Deloitte, etc. as policy professionals. But don’t expect to get into IGOs like the World Bank or UN. According to the recent placement highlights at NLSIU, the L&L Partners made 12 placement offers. Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Trilega made 7 placement offers while Cyril Amarchand made 1 placement offer. Companies like ICICI Bank, Societe Generale, Khaitan, AZB & Partners made less than 5 offers each. In 2020, the highest CTC offered at NLSIU was 18 LPA.  The employment space for MPP professionals is opening up with time and if you have the required skills you will have decent opportunities along the line. But you will need to approach top companies through platforms such as LinkedIn. Read more
