Campus Life:

I don't think there is any annual fest & tech fest in the campus but many cultural functions happen by different political organisations, for example Bengali New Year, Kerala Day, Utkal Divas, Ambedkar Jayanti, Gandhi Jayanti etc in their respective months. All sort of books and journals are available in the library. JNU library is one of the biggest libraries of this country, it's a 8 storey building with reading rooms attached to it. There are different sections in the library for different subjects. Classrooms are well equipped smart classrooms, some of them have ACs as well if not all, there are projectors, whiteboards and podiums for the professors. There is a stadium in the campus, and coaches available as well. There are badminton courts and basketball courts all around the campus, and if you need to play any particular game you can always go to the stadium and play. There are many social groups available in the campus and online, Jnu roundtable, jnu updates are 2 of them

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have taken up Linguistics as my course, Linguistics is the scientific study of language, where we get to explore the similarities and differences between world languages, and try to find out the endangered and extinct languages of the world, we then try to revive the extinct languages and try hard to preserve the endangered ones. It's an interesting subject because it tells you how important and unique every language is. We have 6 faculty members in our department right now, 6 more to be recruited this year, whereas we are almost 80students including both 1st and 2nd years. For now we have limited choices to choose among professors, but hopefully we'll get more recruits later this year Faculty members are well qualified, they are PhD holder. Some of them also have very well reputations in their fields. I have only had my 1st semester till now, the exam happened 2 months before its due time since our course is running late because of COVID 19 pandemic.

Faculty:

The faculty as per my experience is the best I have had in my entire schooling life. The classes are conducted in a seminar room where the teachers prepare presentation for each topic for the better understanding of the student. They conduct various seminars and workshops to make this experience of learning an interesting one for us.The professors are very prompt and systematic in terms of all the activities hapoening in the department. The lectures are planned keeping in mind the psychology of the student. The best part is that the student teacher ratio is 8:1 which helps the teacher to focus on all the students equally.

Placement Experience:

The college does not provide internships or job placements as such but students coming here usually wish to pursue Phd after their MA and the teachers provide great deal of guidence to the students for the same.Students who wish to pursue a career in teaching appear for NET and if they clear it with very good scores and attain the top ranks they are given a JRF(junior research fellowship) where the government sponcers the student for their research. Also the students can join the department for further research.
