This course is very helpful as it shows the true colours of the world and makes us a very hard working person. Well there syllabus is very vast so it gets difficult to cover and finish syllabus on time. There are 2 class tests in which one is open book and there is a semester exam at the end of each semester and they are moderate in difficulty.

We used to have two fests, trans tech which is held during the month of April and another was HORIZON which is the grand fest that is held in the month of May. Books were provided to us by our college itself, and the library was lit. We had projectors in each class, AC. There were thousands of sports and extracurricular activities. There were a total of 21 clubs which were run by students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose a Diploma is nautical science because it gave me job security even before getting into my college because I was sponsored by FLEET MANAGEMENT. This is the cheapest course that is available in my college. Faculty to student ratio is 1:12. Most of my faculty were either captain or chef engineers who had decades of experience in there respective fields.

Since our course is for one year so we don't enjoy much of college life but on a regular basis, fests are organized like freshers' parties and cross country races, and many more events. The library is quite big and all types of books are available and you can take them anytime. Much of the focus is on sports and we have to go for daily exercises and we have all the courts and sports equipment. There are lots of club-like adventure club maths club English club cookery and many more clubs.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

The course which I am doing is quite expensive but not so expansive when considered to BTech and bsc. We are charged five lakh per annum which is quite high for a middle-class family to afford. There are no such scholarship criteria as far as I know as it is a private institution but I have seen students getting financial assistance from the college. And as we are pre-placed we get our stipend after one year which ranges between 400-700$.

Campus Life:

Since it's underrated course so hardly females join merchant navy. Students come from every corner of India but sex ratio is not so good. I'm our batch we had only boys. In our junior batch of 160 cadets, only 8 were female cadets. Although there are no such rules like girls are not allowed. Everyone's treated equally inside the academy and it's safe for everyone.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Basically there were two ways to do this course. Either you can opt for diploma in nautical science leading to B. sc in nautical science or you can directly go for B. sc in nautical science. There's a major difference between these two courses. In Diploma you have to attend your college for 1 year. In that 1 year we had 2 semester. After finishing the college examination you get all your certificates and documents. Then Shipping companies takes your interview. If get selected you have to do 18 months training onboard a ship. And if you opt for direct B. sc nautical science courses then you have to attend the college for 3 years where you will have 6 semesters followed by examinations every semester. Then you recieve all your certificates and documents. After that shipping companies takes your interview if you get selected you have to go for 1 year training on board. The difference between the 2 is the time duration and fees of the course and the B. sc certificate is give after 18 months of training in diploma course and directly after your 3 year B.Sc course ends. Diploma course have lesser fees in comparison to the B.Sc courses.

Faculty:

Our faculties we respect them a lot. All of our faculties were retired captain. They spent all their life and time on ship and provided us with all the great knowledge which they had gathered all those years. We used to have 7 lectures a day from morning 8 to evening 4. Then a self study class at night from 8pm to 9pm. As I stated earlier that our facilities were retired captains so most of them were 60+. Their level of experience were on other level, even though I have served the shipping industry for more than 5 years I have to say I haven't gained 10 % of what they knew that time. and yes they help relevant certification, if you are a captain you can't enter any shipping College directly for the purpose of teaching. For that they have to qualify the extra masters examination which is hard to crack.

Fee Structure And Facilities:

The fee structure here is a little bit higher. It is a professional course so the fee is expensive. The total fee is Rs6,60,000/-. SIMS conducts an all India level talent Search scheme which is a cash reward for class 11th and 12th students from selected schools. They provide scholarships and loan assistance too.

Campus Life:

There are more male students here than female this us dominated by male students. Our schedule is always packed with training, practical, exams etc so we don't have so many events and extracurricular activities. if we celebrate birthdays and festivals it will be on our own.

Course Curriculum Overview:

On the off chance that we are wanting to join trader naval force, at that point this course is ideal. Since this is just a single year course all rest courses are 3-multi year courses. Downside is we have to accomplish more 6-9 months more preparing period than rest course's necessity. In any case, its despite everything better to accomplish more 6-9 months than 2-3 years more school examines. Best thing is I m getting paid for preparing period locally available boat however in college I wont get paid. Furthermore, preparing period I will likewise get same degree. So it is less tedious course for quick finishing. In this course there are just 2 semester in organization and 3,4,5 semester locally available yet assessment will be held after fruition of preparing period. What's more, 6 semester will be the second mate test. After this test u will get competency permit.

Admission:

At that point they direct me about revealing day and what things required during the course.
