Campus Life:

Annual fee is around 5 lack including hostel fee also and they conduct a fest named as Urja in March I think. There us a central library which have all books related to your course they also have a digital library which have about 300 computers for your study. They have a playground for sports activities where you can participate in sports activities. They have student chapters and Clubs like SPE, AAPG, FIPI, IICHE to boost your skills.

Remarks:

Because Petroleum sector was at boom that time and in this college most of the core sector had specialization in petroleum and refining. After 4 years when covid situation came then most of the oil and gas companies did not visited in my college for campus placement but if I see in normal situation the placement with oil and gas companies was excellent.

The annual fest which is held by the university is 'URJA' in which all the university from both the campus take part, Also there are small events like sports events and many more conducted by the university. Talking about clubs; there are many clubs for all the branches which conduct their won small events and encourage students to take part in them for their skill development as well as for fun. Also, each Wednesday is 'WOW WEDNESDAY" where extra circular activities are conducted by students, fro eg dance, painting exhibition, etc. Students can easily access the books from the liberty and can issue books with the help of their identity card for free and have to return after a duration of time. University liberty has different sections where students can sit and study without issuing the books if the person doesn't want to issue one.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As the university has one of the greatest placements throughout the country in the petroleum field so I opted for the following course. The Teacher to student ratio is 9:1; teachers are helpful for academics as well as professional things. Most of the facility holds the degree of the doctorate in their field and also has great work experiences in their field. Exams are conducted two times in a semester and the rest are internals which is conducted throughout the semester. If students focus on what teachers teach in classes and can easily pass the semester examinations.

Faculty is friendly with the students by not just academic means but also by any professional mental help. You can reach out to your teachers through their mail for their cell phone numbers. Examination conducted in each semester is in two parts, One is is mid-semester other is end semester. And the overall result for a year is displayed after two semesters.

Campus Life:

University is situated inside Valley therefore it is surrounded by Hills, view, and the infrastructure around the campus is eye-catchy. There are clubs which is called student chapter for the student for curricular activities and the guideline for future references. There is also a sports event held by the university or by the club for the student.

Apart from that, there is an annual fest organized by the university called "urja" in which singers and celebrities are invited. Students can easily take part in such events or these clubs, also seniors will contact juniors as soon as they have their freshers.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I opted for a Chemical engineering specialization in refining and petroleum as the universities have one of the greatest placement all around the country. Most of the teacher qualifies for masters and doctorates and teachers are so friendly with students with not just academics but personal problems too. Exams are conducted in 2 halves mid semesters and end semesters and it is easy to pass the exams if student focuses on teachers guidelines.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because today the demand for the chemical Engineers have increased rapidly and the industry is also doing very well despite of the market failures. The faculty to Student ratio in normal classes is about 1:60 Where in classes it is 1.:30 Usually all teacher are phd from IIt's or from foreign universities and have also done their graduation and post graduation from known colleges like iit's etc The exams are always on time within a span of 2 months and the faculties were also able to complete it on time. No the exams were not difficult to pass if you have proper knowledge of the courses thought by faculties.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The fees structure of the college is usually higher than the other colleges but they provide with the best of the industrial experience. No usually the don't hike the fees they informed you about the fees structure at start of the admission and no hidden charges are taken.the cost to study one semester is 180000. The scholarship is offered to meritorious students with higher CGPA. Yes the college provide financial assistance to student who have problems. No jobs have been offered so far.

There were full fledged sports field. Football, cricket ground. Campus was wifi enabled bit was not for students unless it's tweaked. Library was 3 storey. Had all sorts of books. Along with that it had several e-books, magazine subscriptions. There were specific labs for almost all segments. But equipments were not up to the mark. Either some were missing or yet to be installed.

Placement Experience:

Good. Right now placement of IT sector is very good. Companies like Flipkart, Infosys, ibm, dell visits the campus. For petroleum placement is mediocre now. Few good company comes but mostly just IT companies. Internship is good. ONGC and IOCL gives the internship.

Fees and Financial Aid:

There is no any scholarship that is given by the College also the loan facility is only the education loan and nothing else. The education loan is very expensive for the students because currently we did not pay any rupee but after graduation we have to pay all the interest from the starting i.e. from the time we take the loan.

College Events:

Events that are conducted by our College is IGNITE which is held in feburary after that fresher's party din september and UURJA in the month of october or november and wow wednesday on every wednesday. Besides all these programs some seminar are conducted by our College also the dandiya night.

Internships Opportunities:

Yes, the college tries to send each and every student for summer internships in core companies after the third year and it is almost successful in this area. Stipend and incentives vary greatly according to the company. Some companies even come in college for providing internships to 3rd-year students, these companies generally pay a stipend and some incentives, a stipend may vary here from 6000 rs. to 25,000 rs. After that resumes of students are forwarded to different companies in order to provide internships, here stipend may range from 0 rs. to 10000 rs. My experience of summer internship was excellent, it was a good and famous oil and gas company. I got to learn so much about the practical field operations, though no stipend was provided food and accommodation was on the company.

Exam Structure:

The exam structure is similar to other government engineering colleges. We get our grades based on our 1) mid-semester exam perform (20% of total grade) 2) internal performance (30% of total grade), the internal assessment includes your attendance, assignments submission, class tests, your activeness in classroom discussions, etc. 3) end semester exams (50% of the total grade. Passing criteria for passing each exam is to get a minimum of 40 marks in each subject.

You will have the chance to secure a job with top companies with high packages, sometimes even leading up to 20 LPA.  The table below gives a brief insight into the institutes.  Particulars IIT Dharwad Electrical  IIT Bhilai MEchanical  IIT Dhanbad Petroleum  Placement Rate 60% 65% 80% Highest CTC 14 LPA 8 LPA 32 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA 3.5 LPA 8 LPA Current scenario: The number of high paying placements for Petroleum Engineering has considerably reduced after the institute became an IIT. If you have confidence on securing a well-paying job then go ahead and apply for the course in Petroleum. If placement is important to you then you might want to reconsider your options. Electrical and Mechanical observe a high number of placements considering they are core branches of Engineering. Petroleum being a niche field of study sees fewer placements. Infrastructure: (Winning Institute - IIT Dhanbad) IIT Dharwad and IIT Bhilai are fairly new and therefore still do not offer a fully-developed campus.  IIT Dhanbad, on the other hand, has a well-developed campus that offers students all modern and updated facilities such as practical labs, multiple academic blocks, a digital library, and more. In terms of Infrastructure, IIT Dhanbad is way better. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages so weigh in those and choose as you see fit.Read more
