Placement Experience:

There are two way internship offered by upes- self intern and college intern and companies offered by campus for intern may go to tier-3.Placements is around 60 percent per batch in my branch. Companies like maruti, honda, hyundai, volvo, Royal enfield came in campus to offer placements.

Admission:

You need to appear for the exam conducted by upes yearly named as upeseat. The syllabus for the entrance exam is same as for jee-main. Than you get ranking according to secured marks.According to ranking upes offers various courses.

Admission:

I sat for the exam of UPES-Admission Test after that I went for counseling where I chose my branch and got a waiting list of 84 which finally got cleared and I got my admission letter. I originally adopted Aerospace Engineering as my course because it was very tough to get that kind of waiting list to be cleared but in the end I got the chance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum was not so common with other colleges because there is no such branch available in India which teaches Automotive Design Engineering so I think learning those software helped me a lot. Exam structure was also different from other colleges as we got just Mid-semester and finals and there is no sessionals.

Placement Experience:

Placements for computer science streams are good, for Non computer science students it's very average or below average. Job package is not at all good for students of NON CIT branch. Yes the college provides internship in a pretty hassleless way, you won't have to worry about your internships. But stipends are still limited to students of computer science branch

College Events:

Urja is the cultural fest and ignite is the tech fest. Urja is good but ignite lacks the punch because regular classes are still going on during ignite. But events in them are good you can participate in those events. Apart from these 2 there are many events which are held in college on a very small basis.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I am persuing in UPES University is B.Tech in Automotive Design Engineering. Here, the infrastructure is amazing and highly technology based as compared to many other universities and college providing same course. Exams done twice in a semester along with internal marks given on the basis of assignments and attendance.

Remarks:

POSITIVE : The campus is lush green situated in the valley of Himalayan Mountain range and covered with green and beautiful area from all the sides where you can enjoy like you can in any hill station. Negative : The only limitation is that this campus is in forest 10 km from main highway and 20 km from city

Placement Experience:

Starting from internship, which is compulsory for all in 3rd year, almost all were able to get interships from college but wasn't paid. Moreover you expect to learn from internships but in some cases it wasn't the same as getting intern for such a crowd is not easy. Our batch was almost the size of 115. Ofcourse there were some with connections in the industry who opted for self intern but still that is a huge crowd to be managed. Now coming to the most important part, THE JOBS- as there was a huge crowd, i can totally understand that it is near impossible to place each and every one in good job and good pay but, still we could have been placed at decent companies. This wasn't the case as only 4-5 basic core companies visit and that to with the maximum demand of around 5 each. Ofcourse it could go to 7-8 but also reduce to 0. Rest all were forced to sit in marketing companies in which some were sales( by sales i mean Door to Door sales). This is untolerable and unexpected from such a huge intitution like this but yes this is true. Long story short many ended up taking the job which pays around 20-25k a month due to financial or other reasons and many are jobless and are studying further or involved in family business.

Campus Life:

I have already discussed much about labs, they are not up to the mark. They seriously lack the proper setup and equipment which is desired and expected from a reputed institute like this. Coming to the sports we had one field in our campus, yes just one in which we had cricket pitch, ofcourse which was only allowed to use during cricket tournaments. And when playing cricket, rest other sports like football, throw etc had to wait since the same field was used for all. Ofcourse we had 1 volleyball court and 2 basketball field, again which was without boundaries or proper outside net, and in the same field. And at last we didn't have any tennis field, squash court and swimming pool. Ofcouse, before my graduation was about to complete, i was able to see gym and badminton courts. But let me remind you our college was founded in 2003. Well ofcourse that is the time you need for setting these.

First event is the WOW wednesday which take place every week on wednesday. This event covers all the flash mobs with various fun events as well music related games. Then comes the ‘Ignite ‘. Ignite basically has got many technical events and games which helps us to gain knowledge in a way different manner and that’s fun too. The comes the UURJA which is of course the most awaited event. This event has got lots of dance performances and ramp walks and the DJ nights which is the best part for each student of this college. Also the freshers party for every fresher out there.

Placement Experience:

The placement is well and good as well as the job opportunities are given to students who have their Sgpa more than 7. Then there’s an exam which is followed by an interview of that particular company. Yes i have heard that the college itself gives internship opportunities to most of the students. Some of the internships are paid while some are unpaid but each internship gives you a certified certificate to buildup your CV.

College Events:

The first event which student gets is the fresher's party for new students in a month of august held on the college campus. each branch has a different party on different days like for BTech on one day and for BBA on the other. Then there is Urja in October or November decided by the college this is the main event of the college like a fest only college students are allowed to attend this. It's a big event the whole college is present & students can participate in things like the war of band etc. Its a 3 day festival on day 2 there is a DJ night and on day 3 there is a band night a band is invited to the college to play. There is also a technical fest where students can participate in events like robo war etc.which also held for 3 days.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good and detailed with domain related subjects also does have practical and theoretical work with a lot of assignments but at the same time, there are some unnecessary subjects too which have no mean to be included in. We had exams twice every semester first is the midterm which was held in mid of semester which contributes to 30% in the final marks and after that, we have end semester at the end of the semester and there are no holidays between the exams and there are regular labs held in the b.tech branch Which do have viva at the end of semesters.

Fee Structure And Facilities:

This I must say, the fee structure of UPES is way-way too high, it is one of the most expensive colleges in India. The average fee in an Indian College is around 70k/semester but at UPES, you've to pay 1.50+Lakhs/semester, this is a huge amount and I must say, for a student like me, coming from average family is too difficult.

Faculty:

The faculty here are of two types, one which is very helpful and with a good attitude, second is the worse kind, they keep demotivating us, put unwanted backlogs, not giving well deserving marks. So we've both kinds of faculties. The teachers which help students like me are great and we have this kind of teachers here

Exam Structure:

There are two times when exams are taken in a semester. First are Mid-Terms with a percentage of 20% in your final score, these are taken in between the semester and then there is End-Term examinations with a percentage of 50% in your final score as these midterms and end terma have a pretty good time in between so the schedule was easy going. There were almost 3 to 4 Labs offered for every semester which was not too hectic.

Admission:

First, you need to give the test(UPESAT) or you can also be selected through you JEE score. Then admission will be followed by counseling in which courses will be explained and you could need to choose the course as per seat availability, if you put yourself in a waiting list of any course then the final result will be announced within 15 days and then college will be started within 2 weeks of the final result.

Entrance Preview:

I took the UPES entrance exam and scored 519 rank. I opted for this college because it was a domain specific college and had excellent educational standards. The college has very good set of faculties and labs that enable you to get the desired knowledge with the expected standards. Also it offers good placement assistance.

Fee Structure And Facilities:

It is a bit expensive you will end up spending almost 15 Lakhs for the B.Tech course and same is for the other courses hence it is a bit expensive. People should expect that they will have to pay almost twice than the other colleges in that league. But will surely get a good exposure.

Remarks:

Our college offers although great facilities but i think the fee structure is not proper and management of time table should also be looked upon as there comes breaks of many hours. So only an hour of break should be given and IT department should have more people to deal problems of the students. DSA of our college is extremely good.

Placement Experience:

Placements and job opportunities are quite fair as the courses offered here are focusing on specialization therefore core sector companies come here for recruitment.

Ques. I scored 68% in the board exams. Can I get admission in BTech Automobile Engineering course at LPU?

● Top Answer By haramveer Dheer on 17 May 24

Ans. Yes, you can get admission to BTech automobile engineering course at LPU. As per LPU eligibility criteria for BTech automobile engineering course, you need to score at least 60% marks in 10+2. I would recommend taking the LPUNEST exam as you have below 70% in your board exams. You can prepare for the exam and score high marks which will help you to get a scholarship. LPU has the best options for students who were not able to perform in their board examinations. So, take this opportunity and sit for the LPUNEST exam. Read more
