What is BSc Animation and VFX all about?

Animation, by which we understand creating an illusion of motion, is a very popular field. The same goes with VFX, where realistic images are obtained which would otherwise be impossible to achieve in reality. During the BSc Animation and VFX course, one will also come across various technologies that are used in the animation field to create virtual games, cartoons, videos and even full-length animated movies. As for visual effects, one gets to learn how to create or manipulate visual images and make them look realistic.

Unlike earlier days, animations and visual effects these days are mostly computer-generated by making use of various animations and compositing software. Composting is one of those techniques of creating a visual effect, where elements from different images are combined into one. Since the computer plays a big part in creating animations and visual effects, most of the training in this course will be based working on computers and using the latest software.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course to do something unique. The curriculum is good. The course structure is good but it lacks in good teaching methods. It will be better to learn via youtube than the facilities. We will have mid semester exam 2 and half months after starting of the sem and will have end semester 3 months after that.

Faculty

As it is an university it has various courses with different facilities. But in some courses the facilities are too poor. The are just ameture in teaching. Sometimes when we reach class from a father distance at that time we will get to know that the class got cancelled. Too poor

Campus Life

There are many events happening in this University . Every now and then there is a another Event . Aminova(Jan) , MUN(sept) , World Animation Day(oct), Sangathan (sports event)(oct) These are the main events and there are many more minor events happening now and then You will get access to a online library with help of the college website and one physical library is also there which is very small and there is only one library in the entire college.yes you can borrow books but there are not many options. Classrooms are simple the plus point is that you have a charging point under your table for each and every seat There is one sports event and after that there are leagues of different different sports which is good if you love sports this might be a good place for you.But there is no qualified sports teacher for any of the mentioned sport . This is a private university so, there are good students But they are not self built

Faculty

There is one teacher for 60 students. Faculty is polite and approachable. They are nice with the students. Faculty is good but being good is not enough they are not ready to take leactures . Leactures rarely happens for our course . So basically there is no exam for your animation course, they'll give you marks with the help of assignments . You will have other subjects exams like Communication skills, Foreign language, Discipline 3. Difficulty level of examination is not hard . The curriculum of the course is not good.i would not suggest anyone to take admission in this college

Fees and Financial Aid

So the fee structure was 180000 yearly tuition fee with 30000 admission fee along with 12000 examination fee. The scholarship wasn't hard to get. I received 60% scholarship on my tution fee. Many batchmates got scholarship and some didn't. It was based of on 12th marks and SUAT.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is very relevant to the degree you've opted for along with some courses that are important for a being for self. They have an elective course option where you pick a course from any other department and school and pursue that on the side which is amazing.

Faculty

Faculties are very good, their teaching is great , what they teach is great, their skill level is on industry level. The problem with it is they are not paid enough, because of such issues many good faculties came and then they just left. The communication within the students is also very friendly.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees for a normal student without scholarship or free ship is 3 lacs on average, and if the student is academically good then the fees percentage would be reduced on the basis of his cgpa. If he has consecutively good cgpa then his fees will be reduced.

Campus Life

There isn't much of a campus life here, because there are just 2 buildings where our classes happen and even half of those are occupied by other colleges, but the infrastructure is top notch, and even though the college lacks in campus life, it gains in social aspects, with fests that are famous all around India, nmims offers amazing opportunities to socialize and make new friends. The college also has several interesting clubs, for fests management, music, sports etc. And all of them are set up with proper regulations and are very interesting.

Faculty

Extremely nice faculty members, the teachers have worked in the animation or design industry from 5-15 years, so they have practical hands on knowledge and are really helpful to guide us. They are super approachable during lectures but post lectures you might have trouble contacting them. Since they have worked in the industry, they have contacts with current animators working on big projects and they invite them for guest lectures every few days.

Campus Life

Aminova was the cultural fest and it was really fun , animation department celebrated world animation day as our huge fest. Library did not have any books for animation , the facilities and technology were extremely lackluster with incredibly underpowered computers in the lab , slow network and broken down hardware. We were not given any licenses for programs or any on the lab computers

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio was good , had some faculty take multiple courses . Some of the faculty fell short in teaching proper industry skills. Teachers were always available to help. A lot of the faculty has left and im sure our course less than required faculty

Faculty

Faculty's aree dame too good they now how to communicate how to interact with students even though students are annoy. The teaching skills in some faculties are too good the understands all the problems we students face and even try to solve them. The faculties value the time and skills we put in the project or in the assignment.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose bsc vfx and animation because I wanna become well known in the world as the biggest 2D animator. The course is good we get to learn many things even we though we have to learn many things by our own. Sometimes we students feels like the course is going slow and the teaching gos well

Internships Opportunities

Companies do visit our campus and roles like character design artist, rigging artist, vfx artist, editor and many more are accepted. The stipend is difficult for me to mention as i don't really know much about it . But I think if you are good at your work you'll get jobs any how it not on campus than maybe off campus.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is quite good and as i said the faculties are very helpful here and that's the best thing about my college. We also have mentor session where our faculties talk to us about our problem may it be personal or about the college and helps us with it .

Trishna and tarangan is the name of the annual and technical festivals and they are held in a year. (December or January)(3 days) all ranges and accessibility of books and journals are available in the library. Good technological provisions within the classrooms the college also offered sports and extracurricular activities in the campus They have there own social media team in there college run by students and every three or two years they changes

Course Curriculum Overview

Now a days animation and vfx are in good form in flim industries. Our college don't prepare good as how studio does. Teaching methods can impove by getting highly educated teachers and they should know how to teach. Exam timing are enough but college should focus on practical exam, they only focuse on theory exam these exam are not gona help to get the job so focus on practicals.
