BAMS Tie-breaking Criteria

During the process of BAMS admission based on the NEET cutoff, there are chances for students to have tied marks. To ensure fairness in this situation, a standard tie-breaking criteria for BAMS admission has been set by the NEET 2023. They are:

  • Biology Marks: For the first criterion, students who have obtained higher marks in biology will be first considered for admission.
  • Chemistry Marks: If the biology marks are not favorable for decision-making, then the chemistry marks of the student will be considered for ranking.
  • Total Incorrect Answers: If the above two criteria are not met, then the applicant with the fewest incorrect answers will be considered.
  • Age: If all the above are not met and the tie still remains, then the applicant who is the oldest will be considered for admission.

Factors that determine NEET cutoff marks for BAMS admission

The NEET cutoff for BAMS admission is determined by several factors. Here are some of the key factors in determining the cutoff for BAMS admission:

  • Total Number of Applicants: The total number of candidates appearing for the NEET exam in a year can determine the cutoff. If there is a high number of applicants, the competition for seats will be intense, and the cutoff may be higher.
  • Difficulty Level of the Exam: If the exam is relatively challenging, the cutoff may be lower, as it could be more difficult for candidates to achieve higher scores.
  • Number of Available Seats: If there are a limited number of seats, the cutoff is likely to be higher, as candidates with higher scores will be given preference.
  • Category-wise Reservation: The reserved seats set for different categories such as SC, ST, OBC, etc., can influence the cutoff for each category. The cutoff for reserved categories is usually lower compared to the general category.
  • Previous Years' Cutoff Trends: The cutoff may vary each year based on the overall performance of candidates and other factors, but previous cutoffs can provide an estimate of the expected cutoff range.
