Jnanadabhiram Barooah Law College, known as J.B Law College (JBLC) was established in 1969, in Guwahati, the largest city of Assam. The college is affiliated with Gauhati University Bar Council of India(BCI) and University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
The college offers Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree focusing on the area of Law. JB Law College offers various courses in the field of Legal Studies both at UG and PG level.
The college makes selection process for BA.LLB and LLB programmes through a merit and admission Test followed by an Interview. The candidates seeking admission in LLM have to appear in Statutory Written Admission Test in Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Indian Penal Code and Current Legal problem. On the basis of performance in the Admission Test, the candidates are selected for the admission in LL.M programme.
The college offers a relaxation of 5% marks which is activated for only the residential candidates of Assam belonging to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC category.
The college provides BA.LLB programme with a five years prolonged duration period. Alongside, the college provides another degree course The Bachelor of Law (LLB) at the undergraduate level, which is of three years.
Admission for both of the undergraduate level courses is done by a merit cum admission test and an on spot interview. The performance of the candidates in the admission test and interview integratedly decide the selection of the candidates in that particular course. The whole admission procedure is conducted by the college.

At postgraduate level, the College offers Master of Law (LLM) programme with a duration period of two years. The candidates interested in LLM programme must need to have a LLB degree from the Guwahati University or a recognized university with an aggregate of 50% marks in degree level.
In order to seek an admission for LLM, applicants need to appear a Statutory Written Admission Test in Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Indian Penal Code and Current Legal problem. As per the performance in the Written Test, the authority of college makes the selection process.

The eligibility criteria 45% for General students and also written exam. I had to visit our college to get the form and all the procedure was offline so I had to visit the college many times. The questions for entrance were easy as many students who were selected for the college were just average students. The admission process was chaos. We were informed that our cpurse fees is 13,500 however now in my final year it has increased to18,500 without any prior notice.
The eligibility of B.A.LL.B (h) is 60% in the class 12 examination from any board. The application form and every detail have been given on the JB law college official website. The form fill-up the date and the latest news are uploaded on the website itself. The admission process is quite easy n understandable for everyone.
The overall admission process was easy and smooth going, there was no hectic suffering for the students. The application form and all the information were provided on the college website, so it was convenient for the students who stayed far from the place of the institute to get the information. There were at least 5 seats reserved for minorities, like ST, SC, etc. The interview was held one on one with the professors. They asked us questions about laws, the Indian constitution, etc.
Our college is one of the premium law colleges in the city of Guwahati. All the teachers were excellent and amazing. The transport communication is also very good from our college to any other places. Nice college campus.
This college is the best law college of Assam.and I find the results of the students are excellent which drove me to take admission in this college.the teachers are very honest and friendly.They put full efforts to guide us.
