Being a commerce student with no maths background, that was the only course I could have gone for at Delhi University. The faculty-student ratio in Vivekananda is okayish. All the faculty members and admin office people are very helpful and qualified. Semesters exams were held twice a year. And they were on an easy to moderate level.
I don't know that much about placement cells in college but because Delhi university college so it has a central placement cell that we can take advantage of. And, I have seen many companies like HCL hiring students from the college.
The course curriculum is really organized. There are dedicated professors for each course and year. The fees are affordable plus they have a scholarship scheme as well for the students. The student and faculty ratio is 10:1 and the professors are so helpful and they also have alumni network as well.
Commerce in UG level has special importance as it opens the gateway for comnerce realm. It is affiliated to Calcutta University. HS pass with commerce subject gives advantages to the course. Being the first private college in India run by the Indians, the college definitely has some importance among the students.
Vivekanand College of New Delhi has special reputation to continue graduate and postgraduate course in a fruitful way. For the admission it prefers secondary and higher secondary marksheet with 50% marks. Admission is merit based but some times entrance exam is also taken.
From the 5th Semester, students become eligible for campus placements. There are only few companies that visit our college for Campus Placements and the numbers of offers made is not appropriate as compared to the number of students doing B.Com course. The highest package offered is 6 lakh per annum and the average package offered is 3 lakh per annum. Very few students (20%) used to get the placements. I'm planning to do my masters after completing my B.Com couse.
My college being an off campus college doesn't have a very active placement cell. However, in 2019 MNCs like Genpact did do some placements from our college. There is also a central placement cell in the University of Delhi where every DU student can enrol with a minimal fee of 100Rs. Students can join placement cells in their 2nd year for internships, while 3rd year students are eligible to sit in placements. Students with a CGPA above 7.0 get the most placements. I plan to pursue my post graduation after graduation.
It is a girl's college and the faculty was very good. Most of the teachers had done their masters and the rest of them were either doing their PHDs or were done with it. So the faculty is experienced and the teaching method followed is quite good. Apart from academics, they offered different opportunities in sports as well as in co-curricular activities. Exams were conducted every 6months that is the at the end of the semester, they were moderately tough.
