Remarks :
I have applied for B.Com at St.Bede's College, Shimla affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University; Banasthali University, Rajasthan and University of Delhi. I have not attended St.Bede's College, Shimla affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University and Banasthali University because I had secured admission in prestigious University of Delhi. I belong to General Category and have not availed any quota for the admission. The admission in B.Com at University of Delhi is done on the basis of merit. The minimum percentage for securing admission in B.Com at Vivekananda College, the University of Delhi for 2020 Batch in General Category was 86%. No Counselling in being done to secure admission in B.Com at University of Delhi.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose B.Com for doing my Under-Graduate because I was interested in Commerce Stream and was passionate about my subjects. The faculty:student ratio in my college is 1:80. The faculty members are well qualified and most professors are P.hD holders. The teaching method followed in the college is student friendly but still there is an area of improvement in teaching methodology. The exams are conducted 2 times a year, that is 2 semesters per year. It is not difficult to pass the exams with good marks if you study from the beginning of every semester and attend college regularly.
Internships Opportunities :
The college has WhatsApp groups in which the CRs are informed about the available internship opportunities and they circulate the same with the fellow students of their class. The internship opportunities are from various fields and offer different roles. Most of the internships don't provide any payment for the work but only an experience and some internships provide a stipend ranging between Rs.10,000- Rs.20,000 per month. And you can also apply for the Internships through Delhi University's Central Placement Cell.
Placement Experience :
From the 5th Semester, students become eligible for campus placements. There are only few companies that visit our college for Campus Placements and the numbers of offers made is not appropriate as compared to the number of students doing B.Com course. The highest package offered is 6 lakh per annum and the average package offered is 3 lakh per annum. Very few students (20%) used to get the placements. I'm planning to do my masters after completing my B.Com couse.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee for B.Com is Rs.13,400 per year. The Fee Structure is very less as compared to Private Universities as it is a Central University. To get detailed information about Scholarships and Financial Assistance available on Merit and Need Basis check the Vivekananda College, University of Delhi Official Website, that is, https://vivekanandacollege.edu.in And there are no on campus jobs available for the students.
